Windsor Castle Hosts Vegan Banquet For Religious Leaders

Windsor Castle was set to host its first ever vegan banquet today as part of a conference for religious leaders on environmental issues.
Britain’s Prince Philip and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon were both scheduled to be present at the lunchtime meal.
Officials chose a vegan meal to accommodate the different religious dietary requirements of the many faiths that were represented, such as Hindu, Islam and Judaism.
The menu included roasted English pear salad and stuffed portabello mushrooms.
Ironically, the vegan menu is also the perfect way to dine at a conference meant to highlight environment problems as meat and dairy industries cause tons of destruction to the planet.
According to some scientists, producing approximately 2 pounds of beef is equal to more CO2 emissions than going on a three hour drive while leaving all the lights on at home.
