Vegetarian Prince Fielder Crowned Home Derby Champion
Written by Vegetarian Star on July 14th, 2009 in Athletes-Games-Sports.
Prince Fielder took some criticism when he went vegetarian last year.
Fans who wanted better performance on the baseball field were quick to blame any mistake on the lack of meat in his diet and critics were quick to point out that, like Ruben Studdard, Fielder’s tofu and veggies weren’t making him much thinner.
Those critics can take their words and shove it, as the Milwaukee Brewers first baseman has shown real athletes don’t need meat and has been crowned Home Derby Champion in the all-star competition.
Fielder won the title by defeating Nelson Cruz of Texas in the final round 6-5 and hit 23 homers in the three rounds of competition. One of Fielder’s homers was a 503-footer, the longest one of the night.
Wonder if he celebrated with his favorite pesto pasta toss that evening?

It appears Prince Fielder is no longer a vegetarian. The other day, his family of 4 ordered 4 sandwiches from the restaurant where I work, but only 1 of them was vegetarian. The others were plain turkey (2 of them…for the children) and turkey with bacon…which I would think was for Prince since his wife seems committed to vegetarianism. Is it the bacon and turkey that made him a better hitter this year? 🙂

Janet, that’s not true or you are misinformed.
Prince is still a vegetarian. Yesterday he ran the sausage race in honor of tofu at Miller.
Besides, both his kids are vegetarians and were for a lot longer than he was, so I find it really hard to believe that Prince and his three kids aren’t vegetarians all of a sudden.
Plus it would be big news if it happened, as they made a huge deal about it when he became one.

Janet is a troll.
Believe nothing of what she says!

His wife should be left out of all arguments because she makes no sense to me. On the one hand she gave him the book on animal cruelty, yet in all the articles announcing Prince’s new diet, it is also mentioned that she threatened to cook him a big steak if his power went down. I don’t know if he’s still a veggie but I sure hope he is.
