OMG! Vegan Russell Simmons has just admitted to eating fish every once in awhile and not caring about the egg in his noodles.
On a recent interview with msnbc.com, Russell announced a contest he is holding to find America’s Greenest Campus where colleges can compete and measure their carbon footprint before and after making changes.
While discussing being green, Russell mentioned all of the little things people can do to go greener when he mentioned a very, very big thing to reduce our carbon footprint.
“We can be a vegetarian, which is probably the greatest thing we can do. The greatest cause of global warming is the animal abuse. By far more than all the forms of transportation put together.”
Even if this means we stray and eat a little fish every now and then. When the topic turned to celebrity hypocrites, the famed vegan Russell Simmons admitted that even he sometimes slips up.
“I’ve been a vegan for 10 years, but you know sometimes when no one’s looking, I eat fish. I do the best I can. And then [I’ll have some] egg in my egg noodle.”
Whoa! What do you guys think of that. Did Russell just make it easier to people to excuse breaking their vegan vow? Or is he just trying to let people know every little bit counts and you don’t have to be perfect to make a difference?

He really doesn’t know what vegan means! He an idiot! He’s not vegan so he shouldn’t say he is!

I think he was just trying to point out that you don’t have to be perfect, which is good. If more people think they can sneak fish here and there from time to time, that’s better than someone not trying to be veg at all.

First off I think both responses Brent and Natasha.I agree to both accounts. I think though these two news reporters could careless about green and specially vegan. People seem not to take vegans seriously. Oh ha ha… laugh laugh yeah that sounds great. People have not intention of eating vegan diet. They are addicts and brainwashed to believe that meat is essential. Look at the cover of muscle and fitness this month. Men specially are brainwashed to believe in meat as a mans food for strength and toughness. I laugh at that concept and let me tell you I seen some pretty fit and strong vegans. Anyway go green cut that meat out your diet people. I consider not knowing if it were accidentally placed in your food and you did not know but to know and just let it slide is not exactly all that great. At least he is 99 percent vegan and pushing it.

If you eat fish and eggs, you are not vegan!

I think that part of the reason mainstream people are so put off by MOST vegans (not to generalize), is because of how often it seems that they are so self rightous and accusatory. I do not think that Russell Simmons point was that to consume animal products was a sin, but rather that if we all did less of it, we could contribute less to global warming. People are vegetarian or vegan for different reasons. Some people are more focused on health, some on the environmental impact, and some on the spiritual aspect of taking the life of another being. But I for one, am very put off by the *gasp* from the self rightous twats that feel the need to speak. Let someone go through your life with a microscope from the coffee beans you buy to the companies you support indirectly, and lets find some injustices. C’mon.

He’s not even a vegetarian if he eats fish!! Stupid but as he wants to eat a mainly vegan diet I guess when he’s eating out it’s easier for him to say he’s Vegan.
