“The Last Station” Portrays Leo Tolstoy’s Secretary As Vegetarian

The Last Station is an Indie film portraying the life of famed author Leo Tolstoy based on a 1990 biographical novel by Jay Parini.

The War and Peace author’ s life is portrayed by Christopher Plummer, Helen Mirren as Sofya Tolstoy, Leo’s wife, Paul Giamatti as Tolstoy’s trusted follower Vladimir Chertkov, James McAvoy as Valentin Bulgakov, Tolstoy’s assistant, Anne-Marie Duff as Leo and Sofya’s daughter Sasha, and Kerry Condon as Masha.

Tolstoy’s assistant, Valentin Bulgakov,  is a vegetarian.

A vegetarian man of the 1800s?

We’re thinking we already like this progressive character who had no Skinny Bastard to motivate him.

The film is expected to be released in Germany in January of next year.
