Def Leppard fans have something to look forward to besides guitarist Phil Collen taking his shirt off.
The band has been working hard on their first full length album since 2008’s Songs from the Sparkle Lounge.
In an interview with Classic Rock Magazine, Collen described the session in which he and the rest of the guys completed over a dozen songs–all with the help of good vegan food.
Collen said:
“The whole time we were there, the incredible gourmet chef Jeni Cook put the band on a raw vegan food diet – no, it’s not just lettuce. We were treated to some of the tastiest foods I’ve ever had in my entire life. We had raw vegan desserts every day, along with sushi, pizza, Mexican-style wraps and incredible salads. The coolest side effect was that I lost seven pounds, while keeping all of my energy and strength up.”
Collen went vegetarian during the band’s 1984 Pyromania tour for animal welfare reasons. He later became drawn to veganism for its health benefits.
