Zumba Fitness Co-Founder Perlman Eats Mostly Vegan Avoid Dairy

Alberto Perlman (center) is the co-founder of Zumba Fitness, an aerobic workout done to the tunes of Latin American music.
Perlman has been named Ink Magazine’s list of the top five CEOs to watch in 2013.
You can’t be a leader in the fitness industry without setting an example at the table.
Perlman consumes a mostly vegan diet and avoid dairy like some dieters avoid the scale.
From the Wall Street Journal:
WSJ: Are you health-conscious?
Perlman: I’m a nutcase. I don’t eat any processed food. I eat about 85% vegan, and mostly vegetables. I don’t touch dairy. I’ve read a million books on nutrition. I don’t believe in putting too many chemicals or animal products in your body. If you read books about longevity – and my goal is to live to 100 – these people are mostly vegan, or they eat a lot of plants.
WSJ: So what’s your favorite food?
Perlman: Steamed broccoli. I eat for nutrition, not for taste. You desensitize your tastebuds – that’s what happens. The things that are most nutritious now taste better to me than anything else.
Just because Perlman helped found Zumba doesn’t mean he’s good at it.
He admits he was known as the “worst dancer” in high school.
