Animal Rights Group Protests Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest

Joey Chesnut won his 6th straight first place championship in the 4th of July Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest, downing a whopping 68 dogs and buns.
Despite the dozens of animal parts, sodium and preservatives in hot dogs linked to cancer, Chesnut said he felt “good” about the experience and it was a “great win.”
Not everybody was celebrating, though. The animal welfare group Mercy For Animals was present with a sign that read, “Choose Vegetarian.”
Tofu pup anyone?
Vegetarian and animal rights site Vegan.com Tweeted its thoughts about the experience.
“Why doesn’t the media coverage of “competitive eating” ever seem to condemn it?”
