Vegan musician and singer Bryan Adams was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame recently.
Adams has produced radio friendly hits such as “Cut Like a Knife,” “Summer of ’69,” and “Run to You.”
He’s also been a strong figure in the vegetarian and vegan movement.
Adams has been a vegan for over 20 years and although he’s added cooked food to his diet, he still eats anywhere from 50-70 percent raw, as he explained during an interview with PETA India.
“If you decide to change your life and stop eating all kinds of animal products, you will inevitably see a change,” Adams said. “The most profound change I ever saw in myself was when I ate only raw food for a year and half. Nothing cooked, nothing animal or fish. Aside from losing weight (which I didn’t have), it was the best I’d ever felt. I’ve incorporated some cooked food back into my diet, but my regime is still about 70 per cent fruit and salad and nuts every day.”
Adams has also been involved with campaigns against the annual seal slaughter that takes place in his birthplace of Canada, and fought to convince KFC in Canada to source its chickens from producers that use higher animal welfare standards.
