Matisyahu More Jewish And Vegan Than Drake
Written by Vegetarian Star on February 17th, 2011 in Food & Drink, Male Singers.
Matisyahu was spotted coming out of a restaurant in L.A. recently when he was asked who was the better Jewish rapper, him orĀ Drake.
Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham to a Jewish Canadian mother and African-American father from Tennessee, is a hip-hop artist who first made a name for himself in the entertainment business by starring as Jimmy Brooks in Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Matisyahu thinks Drake’s Jewishness can’t compete with his. It’s time for a rapping, Jewish man faceoff!
TMZ: He’s [Drake] going around saying he’s the best Jew to ever do it [have a successful rap career]. Who’s more kosher man? You or Drake?
Matisyahu: Drake is pretty good. It’s different than what I do. As an MC, he’s got me. But he doesn’t have the reggae thing. And also, he’s Jewish but he’s not representing Judaism. He happens to be Jewish. But I’m doing this to really tap into my roots and culture. I’m trying to blend that with mainstream society and culture. His being Jewish is just a byproduct.”
Oh, no. Here comes the showdown!
One thing’s for sure, Drake’s not representing veganism as well as Matisyahu.
TMZ caught big M chowing down on kosher, vegan bacon at Real Food Daily.
Matisyahu has said that being vegan helps him keep kosher.
“My diet consists of quinoa, miso, almond milk, kashi cereal, flax seed oil, oatmeal, veggies, fruit, juice, veggie burgers,” he said.
What a way to represent!
