Betty Crocker Hot Holiday Trends–Gluten-Free, Vegan
Written by Vegetarian Star on December 9th, 2010 in Food & Drink, Recipes.
What’s hot for cooking this holiday season? If you subscribe to the opinion of one of the queens in all things food, you’ll agree with Betty Crocker and “Hold the Gluten. Embrace the Vegan.”
In a top ten list of trends on its website that includes putting kids in the kitchen and baking for charitable causes, Betty Crocker reserves the number eight spot for “Alternative Diets Go Mainstream” and offers two delicious recipes for cookies, one gluten-free and one vegan.
“Alternative diets are becoming a way of life for many – maybe even you!” says the website. “However, it can still be difficult to find great-tasting foods that are gluten free or vegan.”
According to some sources, 1 out of every 133 Americans (about 3 million people) has Celiac Disease and about 1 million people in the United States follow a vegan diet.
The recipes for gluten-free fudge crinkles and vegan sugar cookies can be found on Betty Crocker’s website. Whether you’re a celiac, a vegan or someone looking to expand your taste palate, give one or both of these recipes a try.
All the cool chefs are doing it.
