New York Times “Well” Blog Featuring Veg Recipes Until Thanksgiving
Written by Vegetarian Star on November 2nd, 2010 in Food & Drink, Recipes.
One of the nation’s oldest and respected newspapers, the New York Times, is dedicating its online health and wellness blog, “Well,” to vegetarian and vegan recipes for the month of November.
Until Thanksgiving, the Times Well blog will source recipes for appetizers, main courses and even desserts that are meatless, sometimes gluten-free and even vegan from its favorite food writers and chefs.
The first “Eat Well Vegetarian Thanksgiving” series started with Martha Rose Shulman, creator of the New York Times cooking series “Recipes for Health.”
Shulman takes sweet potatoes and blends them with fruit and nuts for a dessert-like dish that has apples and pears co-starring with the potatoes and supported by orange juice.
“Skip the turkey this year and go vegetarian for your Thanksgiving feast,” writes the Times.
The option of sweetening with either honey or agave syrup gives readers the opportunity to skip all questionable animal derived products and make Orange-Scented Sweet Potato and Fruit Gratin completely vegan friendly.
