Brian May will be honored by the International Fund for Animal Welfare at London’s House of Lords on Tuesday, October 19, for his work with animal rights, particularly the “Save Me” campaign he launched earlier this year to urge voters not to support politicians in the UK who were interested in repealing the laws against hunting certain animals.
The Queen guitarist and vegetarian said, “Fighting for the welfare of our wild animals is not a task that any of us want to have to do.”
“We do it because these magnificent animals live, breathe, see, hear, and feel pleasure and pain like we do, but they do not speak our language, so in the world of humans, they have no voice.
“They have no way to speak out against the abuse being perpetrated against them.”
The IFAW truly does campaign for animals all around the globe, from the threat of whaling in the oceans, to the poaching of elephants in Africa to the seal hunt in Canada. For more information on its campaigns, visit IFAW.org.

For the last few years Brian May has been the most articulate, compelling, poignant and emotive animal welfare proponent in the music industry. As a guitarist, his tone is incomparably majestic. He merits the IFAW recognition on behalf of animals in general and wildlife species in particular.
