By co-founding Marley Coffee, Rohan Marley, son of the late, great reggae musician Bob Marley, is honoring a dream his father was never able to realize.
From the Marley Coffee website:
“Bob Marley had always said he would return to farming one day,but his destiny was filled with the passion for music, and he never had the chance. With Marley Coffee, Bob’s son, Rohan and friend Shane Whittle fulfill this dream and offers his family’s treasures to the world.”
Marley Coffee is certified USDA organic, and harvests its beans from 52 acres of private estate on top of Blue Mountains in Chepstowe, Portland, Jamaica.
Marley Coffee not only takes the quality of its beverage seriously, it also is concerned about labor practices surrounding coffee beans. It works to ensure children are not involved in the growing, harvesting or shipment of the beans in an industry where children may make up to 7-12% of the workforce labor on these types of plantations.
