Jack Johnson‘s latest release, To The Sea, is part of a package, literally, of environmental activities to accompany his tour for the album.

To The Sea is printed on 100% post-consumer-waste recycled paper and carries the 1% For The Planet logo, which means Johnson has pledged to give 1% of net sales to causes that preserve and restore the Earth.

The veggie Hawaiian laulua lover who says although he keeps his home meat-free, he’ll eat anything someone feeds him outside, is ensuring his crew eats using ingredients from local, organic farmers whenever possible. He has also partnered with Johnson’s All At Once Community, which aims to educate fans on eating local.

According to Soundspike, all tour merchandise has been manufactured from sustainable materials, tour buses and trucks will be run on biodiesel, and Johnson will continue to support carbon management projects around the world.

Did we mention Johnson’s also donating 100% of his tour profits to charity just like he did in 2008? How does this guy and his crew still earn money? Suppose it pays to give back. To The Sea debuted at #1 in the US, sold 243,000 during its first week released and is also a chart topper in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Switzerland.
