111 Year Old Californian Attributed Vegetarian Diet To Long Life

California’s third oldest person died at 111 years old earlier this month.
Viola May Koch is pictured here at her 111th birthday party.
What did Viola attribute to her longevity? The veg life of course!
“Drink plenty of water, don’t eat meat, don’t overeat, don’t eat between meals, and don’t eat desserts — except for lemon pie,” she once said.
Viola not only lived a good lifestyle, she preached it to her family as well.
Her granddaughter, Sharon Baldwin, was quoted in the Weekly Calistogan as saying, “Grandma told me when I was a little girl, that she started eating right about the time she was 40 years old, and that it was not too early for me to start. She especially told me not to eat too many potato chips, because she knew that was my favorite thing.”
“Grandma is strictly a vegetarian, and I believe she has never eaten any meat, ever,” Baldwin said. “I know I’ve never seen her.”
Viola often wondered why everyone kept asking her why she lived so long. She just told them it was because she ate right. She also never took medications, saying they made her feel “unfit.”
At 111, she looked better than some celebrities do at 50. Let’s all hope we look half as good when we turn 80!
