Summer Rayne Oakes Fronts Payless Zoe & Zac Sustainable Shoes
Written by Vegetarian Star on April 20th, 2009 in Environment-Eco-Green, Fashion, Models.
In the old days if you were on a budget and looking for animal-free footwear, Payless ShoeSource was your one stop hub. Only every shoe there was made from fibers drenched in toxic chemicals that made your feet turn colors on a hot summer day.
That’s all changed now. Payless launched their Zoe & Zac collection last week and model and green activist Summer Rayne Oakes is the face of sustainable, green footwear.
Every pair in the women and girls collection is under $30.
If that doesn’t get you salivating, here’s some of the green features the shoes have to offer: organic cotton, faux suede and faux leather materials manufactured with reduced heavy metals, recycled rubber and elastic made from recycled plastic bottles, and water based and non-toxic glues.
Plus, any Zoe & Zac shoe purchased donates $1 to the Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion campaign. As in, a billion, beautiful, CO2 reducing trees.
What are you waiting for? Head to the nearest Payless near you now!

That awesome. I live 5 minutes walking distance away from a Payless. I don’t even need a new pair of shoes, but this makes me want to buy some.

That’s so cool! I would buy their awesome shoes but sadly I live in Canada and the Payless really sucks here. I can only get chuck taylors since the rest of the shoes are ugly.

I’ve been buying cheap Payless shoes for years, and yes, they do bleed, tear up, and hurt your feet at times. I’m so excited this line has come out. The price is good. Some of the regular shoes are that price, so these should sell well.
Everybody go out and buy some because we need to keep inexpensive options like these on the market!
