“The Booby Scare” Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 in Actresses, Nutrition-Health-Fitness, Videos.

Vegan Emily Deschanel, along with Alyson Hannigan, Kat McPhee, Minka Kelly, and Jaime King star in this breast cancer awareness video in celebration of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This is how celebrities have girls night in parties, so watch and take notes.

Full frontal shots of girl on girl boob grabbing and cleavage showing right before the paparazzi gets caught filming them.

Plus some great info on false alarms and what might not be breast cancer…like a rhinestone bra.

Incidentally, a vegetarian diet might give you more reason to grab your potentially lifelong cancer-free boobies.

Vegetarians have lower death rates from cancer, breast cancer rates are lower in countries where diets are plant-based, and when people from those countries adopt Western meat based diets, their breast cancer rates soar.

AFI Hunter Burgan Loves Vegan Cheese Sourdough Bread

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Live Earth - New York - Show

But make sure you wash your hands before making it for him if you’ve sneezed recently.

Hunter Burgan, bassist for AFI known for his sarcastic, witty, and downright ridiculous comments on his blog or during interviews, shared with buzznet.com what he’d love to put on his sandwich.

Buzznet: If we gave you sourdough bread and you could put anything on your sandwich what would it be?

Hunter: It would be very thoughtful of you. Thanks! (I might melt some vegan cheese on it, or maybe marinara sauce if you didn’t give me vegan cheese.)

But Hunter’s quite a germaphobe, so never do something like cough and touch his sandwich. Or stab him.

“I hate it when people sneeze into their hands and then place them inside my mouth. I also hate being stabbed to death…that’s a pet peeve of mine.”

And to all ladies without eyes, sorry, you’ll have to find another man.

“The first thing I look for is eyes. If a girl doesn’t have eyes, it’s a no-go. (my apologies to all the girls reading this without eyes).”

Read more, find out when AFI plays near you and possibly determine if Hunter’s been eating too much moldy sourdough bread from his answers at buzznet.com.

Chrissie Hynde Brookstone Frog-O-Sphere Bashing

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Female Musicians, Female Singers.

The Pretenders, Cat Power And Juliette Lewis At The Greek Theatre

The Pretenders‘ singer Chrissie Hynde has written a letter to Interim CEO and president of Brookstone for its Frog-O-Sphere display, where live frogs and snails are sold in the store.

“I was horrified to learn from my friends at PETA that Brookstone is selling African dwarf frogs and snails in tiny, barren boxes. Customers have reported that the animals are languishing on store shelves and that they often die slow, miserable deaths. Foot massagers and grill equipment can live quite happily in boxes; animals cannot. Brookstone should rely on sales of innovative and cruelty-free gadgets instead of profiting from animal suffering.”

“Over the years, I’ve opened my home to many animal companions—but only after careful consideration of my ability to provide them with the love and care that they need for their entire lives. It’s irresponsible, and often deadly, to purchase animals on a whim. When the novelty wears off, the animals pay the price. Most mall shoppers have no idea of the commitment required to take care of these animals…”

Vegan triathlete Brendan Brazier is giving everyone the full lecture on plant based protein and building muscle at Kris Carr‘s website Crazysexylife.com.

Plant protein is great, Brendan insists, because it doesn’t increase the inflammation in the muscle as much as animal protein does after a workout, allowing you to recover faster and lift more weights.

“In place of isolates and acid-forming animal foods, there are host of plant-based options that will ensure inflammation be kept to a minimum. Post workout, excellent plant-based protein sources include: hemp, pea, and rice protein. And while protein is a crucial component for muscle repair and building, so too are essential fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6), vitamins, minerals, enzymes, probiotics, antioxidants and a host of other nutritional components that can be found in a variety of plant-based whole foods. This being the case, the post workout smoothies will deliver greater results if it contains these components, not merely protein.”

Propagandhi makes it no secret they disagree with the concept of “humanely raised meat” as is evident through their song about roasting Sandor Katz.

Band member Chris Hannah explains what he meant about his statement that, “we do encourage people to slaughter and devour organically-fed human corpses.”

“Obviously it’s tongue in cheek,” Chris says. “People are spreading the idea around that there’s a humane way of confining, terrorizing, mutilating, killing and eating non-human animals.”

“I don’t think that’s a very good rationalization-to tend to call things Happy Meat or Humane Meat. I think it’s dishonest.”

Whew! Glad Chris wasn’t serious about cheering on cannibalism.
