Whatever happened to Bubbles the Chimp?

No, this isn’t a Child Stars of the 80s episode, it’s just a report on Michael Jackson’s beloved pet chimp, Bubbles.

Bubbles is living large at the Florida sanctuary, Center For Great Apes, getting the star treatment of cucumbers and banannas delivered to him daily as he schmoozes with 14 orangutans and 27 other chimps.

The Center For Great Apes was founded in 1993, by Patti Ragan, to provide “a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been retired from the entertainment industry, from research, or who are no longer wanted as pets.”

Bubbles became a little aggressive as he grew older (you know how Hollywood divas are) and Michael was forced to give him up.

Sadly, many people like Jackson don’t realize chimps are wild animals and are not suitable for living among humans. Fortunately, the Bubbles story ended happily, unlike the one with Travis the chimp.

Watch the video to see Bubbles perform some sort of slicky slide maneuver around his cage.

MTV TRL Presents The Cast Of DeGrassi High

If Padma Lakshmi is the burger food porn queen, and Jessica Szohr’s burger whoredom gave her an orgasm, then Cassie Steele must partake in the occasional burger orgy every now and then.

Yes, minors, click over to Disney, because this post contains too much adult content you should never be exposed to.

Actress Cassie Steele has revealed she used to be a vegetarian and then, out of the blue, she just quit.

Now the Degrassi star has 10 burgers in one day and they’re not exactly veggie.

“If I try to diet for my work, it backfires and I’ll just rebel and have like 10 hamburgers in a day. I can out eat anybody. I used to be a vegetarian, and then one day I just quit. Everyday is pizza, and chicken wings. I try not to limit myself to what I eat. Just everything in moderation, obviously. I guess moderation would be the wrong word, because I really just eat everything.”

Yes, Cassie must be using the wrong words, because daily chicken wings is not exactly our idea of “moderation.”

What gives, darling?

Vegetarianism is not about dieting. We’d never want you to feel restricted because of it. Why not replace your chicken wings with Morningstar Veggie Buffalo Wings or make your own meatless version?

Academy Of Television Arts & Sciences Presents From Stand-Up To Sitcom

Comedian Carol Leifer, author of When You Lie About Your Age, The Terrorists Win, recently became vegan.

She lost 20 pounds in the process and says if you go vegan, both your clothes and animals will thank you.

Leifer also took a moment to show her humorous side, saying “I recently became vegan because I felt that as a Jewish lesbian, I wasn’t part of a small enough minority. So now I’m a Jewish lesbian vegan.”

For awhile she had some company, as Jewish, lesbian comedian Dana Goldberg was at one point a vegan. Now, Goldberg continues to remain vegetarian.

Heather Mills Launches V-Bites Restaurant

Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed recently applauded Heather Mills for bringing vegetarianism to the media eye and opening her new vegan restaurant and cafe V Bites, saying more celebrities should do the same.

“More world celebrities should come forward to promote vegetarianism and persuade their fans to go vegetarian, thus contributing to a healthier world,” Zed said, in a statement to USA Today Nevada. Zed is the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism.

Zed pointed out that Hinduism promotes strict vegetarianism, and insists on ahimsa (not harming living creatures) and renouncing animal slaughter and meat eating. It also suggests taking of sattvik (vegetables, fruits) and avoiding rajasik (eggs) and tamasik (meat, intoxicants) foods.

Recently Barack Obama hosted chef Bobby Flay and several men from local D.C. schools at the Kick Off Young Men’s barbecue on the White House South Lawn.

This makes, what, strike three?

Ray’s Hell burger visit with vice president Joe Biden, the Cheeseburger incident at Five Guys, and now a barbecue on the White House lawn.

Grilled steak, corn, and chicken were on the menu, but no where on the White House blog did it mention a veggie burger.

Mr. Obama doesn’t appear to be practicing what he preached last year on the campaign trail when he said encouraging Americans to eat more plant based foods can clean up the healthcare mess by reducing rates of obesity related diseases like diabetes.

At least First Lady Michelle Obama is promoting eating more vegetables.

Gabe Saporta, vegetarian and frontman for the band Cobra Starship, has a lifesize cardboard cut-out of himself on the Vans Warp Tour.

It’s located under the PETA tent, and will be present at every performance on the entire tour.

Cardboard Gabe is sporting a “Glamour Kills” t-shirt, which highlights the cruelty of animal testing in cosmetics.

Which is ironic, considering Gabe’s never been the “guyliner” type. We’re thinking it’s a more appropriate shirt for oh, let’s say, Davey Havok.

But it’s the message that counts.

Incidentally, do you know if your lipstick, lotion, or other makeup accessory is cruelty-free? Because it would be horrible to do an Ellen DeGeneres move and say you’re a vegetarian or vegan while fronting Cover Girl.

Check out leapbunny.org and find out. The “leaping bunny” can be found on all products where no new animal testing has been used in any phase of the product for the company, its laboratories, or its suppliers.

Natalie Portman will be making a special guest appearance on Bravo’s Top Chef in the upcoming season six, which premiers Wednesday, August 26th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Since Nat is a hard core vegan, the cheftestants will probably be given the challenge of whipping up something meatless, eggless, and dairyless for the actress.

Top Chef had a vegan experience last year, when the Food Fighters were invited during the Thanksgiving episode and requested the chefs cater for their crew of 60 people, some of which were vegetarian.

The vegan cornbread stole the show last year. Will another veg dish be a big hit?

Crossing our fingers none of the cheftestants “chicken” out like last year’s Carla and go with a meaty dish when they really wanted to make a vegetarian one.
