Oooh, how long has it been since you had some Loveshack?
The song, that is, by Fred Schneider and his B-52’s gang. The band that’s been around since the 80s is nowhere near retiring yet, and although Fred’s still singing “Rock Lobster,” he’s not eating any.
The world of touring isn’t nearly as difficult to a vegetarian musician as it was when the band first broke out.
“I eat dairy and eggs, so it’s not as hard as it used to be. America’s finally come to some of its senses.”
The band is currently performing songs live from their most recent album, Funplex.
Fred took German in high school, so if the band decides to do an overseas tour in that part of Europe, language shouldn’t be a barrier to getting good food either.
“Now I can say ‘I don’t eat meat’ and stuff like that in German.”
Wir essen keine Fleisch either!
Oh, yeah. Google Translate does us well!

Comments Off on Who Would You: Kellie Pickler Or Milo Ventimiglia (Sexiest Edition)
The votes are in and Kellie Pickler and Milo Ventimiglia were chosen as the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities in a poll conducted by PETA.
PETA, being the equal rights organization it is, of course has a spot for the top male and female, but if you had to choose just one, who would you rather do…

“For most of my life I’ve had a thing for the artichoke, because it was such an exciting vegetable. You could do so much with it. I first saw it on television, on “The Little Rascals.” I had my own artichoke plate, with a place for the heart to sit. To this day I still go crazy for them. But I also eat broccoli every day, it’s like taking a vitamin. And I like leafy green vegetables. But artichokes and I go way back.”

Wow. Talk about calling a shot.
When we asked weeks ago if Milo Ventimiglia was the sexiest, fans across the nation answered our question with a resounding YES!
Milo was voted Sexiest Vegetarian of the Year in a contest held by PETA, along with his female crowned counterpart Kellie Pickler.
Milo does have an advantage, given the fact he was raised vegetarian since in utero. But Kellie made an honest effort to change her diet as an adult with a little help from fellow Idol alum and vegetarian Carrie Underwood and Pamela Anderson.
When Kellie found out she won, she had to do some googling to believe it!
On her Myspace blog, she wrote:
“On another note….I just found out that I was voted “Peta’s Sexiest Vegetarian!” How cool is that?!! Thank you so much for voting!! That was totally unexpected!! I was jumping up and down when I heard the news! I even googled it to make sure I wasn’t being punk’d! ha ha!! “
Did your favorite vegetarian star win? Should someone else be seated in the top spot?

Comments Off on Dennis Kucinich To Recognize Vegan Earth Day In Congress

Dennis Kucinich is about to get congressional vegan style!
Vegan Earth Day is approaching on June 21st, and the vegan representative of Ohio plans to deliver a statement about it to the floor of Congress. The event will be televised by C-Span and documented permanently in the Congressional Record.
All eyes will be on you Dennis and it’s recorded forever. But no pressure or anything.
According to a statement made by Kucinich’s Press Secretary Nathan White to Bob Linden of the radio program, Go Vegan With Bob Linden, Kucinich is “crafting a proclamation in support of VEGAN EARTH DAY and its goal of increased global awareness of environmental, health, economic, and other benefits of adopting the vegan lifestyle.”
This year’s Vegan Earth Day celebration in California will feature firefighter Rip Esselstyn, author of the Engine 2-Diet, as well as his father, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, who inspired Rip to go veg.

Comments Off on Richie Rich Tells How Pamela Anderson Vegan Clothing Was Born

We brought you the news that Pamela Anderson and Richie Rich have collaborated to create a line of vegan clothing under the brand MUSE.
Now, we’re learning more from Rich just how the line was envisioned.
Strangely enough, it was a visit to a craft store that spawned the idea.
“A few years ago in Vegas, she had a T-shirt line, so I styled her show,” Rich told New York magazine. “She sent me to Michael’s, a craft store, in a limousine, and she was like, ‘Doll up my line!’ And I did. Glitter, pom-poms, you name it.”
Don’t know if that means the new clothing line will be “glittery” or if the experience lit a light bulb in Rich’s head that made him think, “We should work together.”
Since Pamela is a staunch vegetarian, no fur will be used in the collection, which Rich said was hard for him.
Hopefully, working with Pamela will rub off on the designer and he’ll see cruelty-free as an easier and much kinder choice in the future.

Comments Off on Candice Bergen Reading Face On Your Plate: The Truth About Food

If you’re looking for a book to add to your summer reading list, why not pick up Face On Your Plate: The Truth About Food by Jeffrey Mousaieff Masson.
The book details myths about meat eating and gives reasons why it isn’t natural or healthy.
It’s been on Candice Bergen’s summer reading list and she seems to agree with everything Masson says, calling it, “a guide to ethical eating that basically confirms everything I have felt about eating meat for 35 years.”
Technically, Candice is a self-proclaimed half-assed vegetarian, because she still eats chicken. But wait, chicken is meat.
Maybe Masson’s book will help Candice see chicken faces the next time she grabs her plate.
