Comments Off on Soy-Yer Dough Modeling Clay: Soy To The Rescue
Soy-Yer Dough. Wheat-free, gluten-free soy based modeling clay.
Who said soy is just for milk and tofu?
A Purdue University student created a soy and rice based modeling clay, Soy-Yer Dough, as a result of an academic project to create a wheat free clay for his professor and her daughter.
“One of my favorite professors mentioned she had Celiac disease. I had no idea what that was but I found out it meant she was allergic to wheat. So I set out to invent to help her child, who also had Celiac disease, and make a fun scented product and that was Soy-Yer Dough,” said Sawyer Sparks, creator of Soy-Yer Dough.
Sparks recently won a competition on the NBC business reality show Shark Tank, which resulted in $300,000 for a 51% interest in the product from three different investors.
Soy-Yer Dough is available in both soy and rice for those with soy allergies and several scents, including cherry, watermelon, and root beer.

Vegetarian Spider "Bagheera kiplingi"
The vegetarian spider recently discovered, Bagheera kiplingi, made headlines days ago because of its tendency to eat plant leaves and not bugs.
However, more has been unearthed about this creature who’s carbon footprint is lowered not only by eating plants, but also by its choice to construct its home of eco friendly sustainable web material.
“When we first came across it, it seemed to be hosting a poorly-attended seminar about women’s rights and press freedom in the former Yugoslavia.
“We then tried poking it with a stick to get it angry but it just presented us with a tiny cup of camomile tea and gave us some literature about Darfur.”
Of course, this is only one report. Others state the vegetarian spider is just off meat for awhile. Maybe it’s trying to cleanse.
Whether it’s for convenience, an inability to give up some foods, or whatever your reasons, the “almost vegans” may find it hard to categorize themselves while bringing up their diets with other people.
To the “almost vegans” out there, you have famous company.
Mayim Bialik, almost vegan, describes her position as this:
“I don’t call myself vegan in political vegan circles, because I do eat eggs if it is in something, or dairy if it is in something and I taste it, it is okay with me. Our son is raised pretty much the same. As I said, in political circles, vegans don’t consider me vegan, but I don’t eat dairy or eggs, or fish or anything with a face or a nervous system. If I am around vegans, I say I am a vegetarian who doesn’t eat dairy or eggs. I also don’t wear leather.”
What are some of your politically incorrect vegan habits?
Do you keep your home vegan, but eat dairy if there’s a batch of cookies in the office?
Comments Off on Rory Freedman-Have Your Steak And Tofu Too
So you want to go vegetarian, but don’t think you can do without the cow every now and then.
How on earth are you going to survive?
Skinny Bitch co-author Rory Freedman suggests replacing your favorite meats with a plant version.
“Have that same meal, but just change it up to something plant based,” Rory said, according to Latimesmagazine.com. “So instead of a steak, have a tofu steak. Use Earth Balance (vegan butter) in your mashed potatoes or almond milk on your cereal.”
It’s getting colder in some parts of the world, and a great to motivate yourself to get out of bed when it’s 13 degrees outside is to wake up to warm fluffy goodness.
Vegans can choose a dairyless butter like Earth Balance and use egg replacements like Ener-G.
Comments Off on Jessica Simpson-Real Girls Adopt Rescue Dogs
Now that she has grieved over the loss of her beloved Daisy, Jessica Simpson is talking about the excitement of getting a new dog.
Contrary to what her clothing says, real girls don’t eat me, but at least real girls know the importance of adopting versus going to a breeder or kennel.
“Jessica loves dog, but she’s terrified of getting another small dog unless she gets a big dog, too,” her friend explains. “She’s looking at German shepherds or pit bulls and wants a rescue dog,” the Simpson spy tells In Touch.
With an estimated 6-8 million cats and dogs going to shelters every year and only 3-4 million being adopted…the numbers tell a sad story on their own.
Congrats to Jessica for making the right decision.

“First I debate with them. I love to be right, but will accept when I’m wrong. I respond to every critical email I get. If the critics are being irrational or we can’t agree to disagree respectfully, I say “SUCK IT” and carry on with my mission – which is to help animals.”
