Kristen Bell poses for photographs while walking the red carpet at the premiere of Astro Boy , held at the Grauman's Chinese Theater

Kristen Bell recently did an interview with Women’s Health magazine where she revealed that although she went vegetarian at the age of 11 for animal rights, mom made sure she retained her healthy eating habits.

“I try to eat as many colors as possible. My mom taught me that when I was little. If you’re plate is colorful, you’re probably doing a good job.”

Kristen’s exercise routine consists of  lots of yoga, strength training, walking her dogs, and taking the stairs whenever possible.

“I try to eat more fresh foods than processed ones, and the grainiest bread possible.”

Maybe the Grain Council will recruit Kristen to be their next grain “it” girl.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 in Animal Issues, Celebrity Tweets, Female Singers.

2nd Annual ACM Honors

Kellie Pickler made a Tweet about the new stray animals that keep coming back to her place.

“thanksgiving is right around the corner. funny how all the turkey’s hang out in my yard. I guess they know I’m a vegetarian.”

Ah, must be nice knowing there’s a vegetarian safe haven on the planet in the midst of millions of other turkey beheading Sarah Palin households.

BTW, if no turkeys are showing up in your backyard, you can still have a pet of your own through the Farm Sanctuary Adopt-A-Turkey program. For $25, you can sponsor a turkey living at the sanctuary.

Although it’d be great if you guys could be pen pals, currently calligraphy isn’t taught to the birds on the sanctuary.

Every day until the end of the contest, we’re bringing you a few of Alicia’s thoughts on The Kind Diet, with a reminder to leave a comment to enter to win.

Today, Alicia answers the question of what it means to “eat kind.”

“Eating “Kind” is about being really, really good to yourself and the planet via the foods you put into your body. A plant-based diet filled with whole and organic foods will give you tons of energy, mental clarity, gorgeous skin and a zest for life. But this kindness also extends to the earth itself; by requiring less fuel, water, and other resources, a plant-based diet is much lighter on the planet. And because it is clean, this diet helps our soil, water and atmosphere get healthy as well.”

Don’t miss your chance to learn to eat kinder and help yourself, animals, and the planet.

Enter to win The Kind Diet today.

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 in Fashion, Fur.

Terry Biviano Store Launch Party

Sydney designer and former supermodel Gail Elliot has decided to say good-bye to fur and get faux real instead.

Elliot has dropped fur from her upcoming winter range of her Little Joe label of fashions.

Elliot had been the target of animal rights groups like PETA in the past for her collections that included signature fur vests, which have been adored by celebrities such as Elle MacPherson.

Great job, Gail.

We’re crossing our bunny ears she’ll never go back.

Chipotle Shares Double After IPO

Yay for Chipotle!

The restaurant located in DuPont Circle in Washington, D.C. now offers a vegan meat filling.

The combination of wheat protein, soy protein, and vegetables is marinated in Chipotle’s adobe sauce and grilled.

We’re hoping it’s grilled separately from the real thing.

According to co-CEO, founder, and chairman Steve Ells, the veggie alternative is an extension in the company’s mission to support ethical farming.

If the new veggie option is received well, there is potential for its expansion to other restaurants, but as for now, it’s only available in D.C.

Which means Obama no longer has excuses for his burgers runs.

Katy Perry Russell Brand Romantic Dinner With Veggies

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 in Couples, Food & Drink.

New glam couple Russell Brand and Katy Perry get very cosy at a party in Hollywood!

The hot for each other and surprising couple Katy Perry and Russell Brand had dinner and a party at h.wood recently with 15 other friends.

“They were making out late into the night,” says an onlooker. “They’re just having fun,” added a friend. “Right now it’s just a fling but for the moment they’re really into each other.”

What’s more important than the smooch of the night is that Katy personally asked the chef to prepare a vegetarian dinner for the baddest veg male celebrity.

We’re starting to like the sound of this.

If you recall, Katy has expressed interest in becoming vegetarian, but was afraid she couldn’t give up chicken.

Will Katy’s relationship will Russell be enough to push her over?

Incidentally, Katy’s got a thing for veggie men. Her ex Travis McCoy also says no to meat.

Soy-Yer Dough. Wheat-free, gluten-free soy based modeling clay.

Who said soy is just for milk and tofu?

A Purdue University student created a soy and rice based modeling clay, Soy-Yer Dough, as a result of an academic project to create a wheat free clay for his professor and her daughter.

“One of my favorite professors mentioned she had Celiac disease. I had no idea what that was but I found out it meant she was allergic to wheat. So I set out to invent to help her child, who also had Celiac disease, and make a fun scented product and that was Soy-Yer Dough,” said Sawyer Sparks, creator of Soy-Yer Dough.

Sparks recently won a competition on the NBC business reality show Shark Tank, which resulted in $300,000 for a 51% interest in the product from three different investors.

Soy-Yer Dough is available in both soy and rice for those with soy allergies and several scents, including cherry, watermelon, and root beer.

Vegetarian Spider Liberal, Darfur Activist, Sustainable Web Spinner

Vegetarian Spider "Bagheera kiplingi"

Vegetarian Spider "Bagheera kiplingi"

The vegetarian spider recently discovered, Bagheera kiplingi, made headlines days ago because of its tendency to eat plant leaves and not bugs.

However, more has been unearthed about this creature who’s carbon footprint is lowered not only by eating plants, but also by its choice to construct its home of eco friendly sustainable web material.

Bagheera kiplingi is quite the liberal.

From The Daily Mash:

“When we first came across it, it seemed to be hosting a poorly-attended seminar about women’s rights and press freedom in the former Yugoslavia.

“We then tried poking it with a stick to get it angry but it just presented us with a tiny cup of camomile tea and gave us some literature about Darfur.”

Of course, this is only one report. Others state the vegetarian spider is just off meat for awhile. Maybe it’s trying to cleanse.
