Alicia Silverstone may be a vegan, but she may add some butter to her life soon.
The actress is rumored to be cast in the film starring Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell featuring a butter carving champion in a small town.
According to Access Hollywood, Production Weekly says Silverstone is currently in negotiation for the comedy that has already cast Jennifer Garner and Ashley Greene.
If Silverstone were competing in a butter carving contest herself, she’d pick her favorite vegan butter, Earth Balance, as she’s blogged about it on her website, The Kind Life.
Available in tubs and traditional butter sticks, Earth Balance comes in several varieties that include soy, no soy, canola oil or without, and contain all the buttery flavor minus the cholesterol and dairy farms.

Clarke Peters, star in the new HBO series set in post Katrina New Orleans, Treme, shares the same taste in food as the network’s president of entertainment, Sue Naegle.
But like Russell Simmons said, Peters insists that The Big Easy isn’t easy at all for someone for follows a strict vegetarian or vegan diet.
“There’s [the West African restaurant] Bennachin,” Peters told North Jersey. “Then there’s [Café] Bamboo, around the corner at the end of Esplanade. Other than that, the only place to eat vegetarian in New Orleans is my house.”
After seeing only a couple of more restaurants other than what Peters named on Yelp.com, it’s clear you need to make a reservation at his house when you book the train or flight to Louisiana.
Treme airs Sundays at 10PM on HBO.

Carl Lewis, nine time Olympic gold medal champion and vegan, is running in the 6-kilometer Run for Water race in Atlanta, Georgia on April 18 to raise awareness for water scarcity.
The charity fits well into his vegan lifestyle, Lewis says, as clean water is just an important element of health as animal free food.
“I’ve always been someone who cared about and loved the environment,” Lewis told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “It was really kind of a perfect match. When I heard about the event, it was something that fits. … I’ve been around the world several times. I can understand the issue of water scarcity. I’ve always disliked plastic water bottles. This fits into my overall thoughts about that and being a vegan and having my foundation focus on health and fitness, this all fits into the message that I’m living.”
Lewis says that although there are challenges to being vegan when eating out, even a steakhouse can keep you vegetarian if you make the effort.
“Basically, when I’m home, I’m completely a vegan. When I’m out, I eat some things. I don’t stress it. If there’s a steakhouse around, it’s the greatest place for vegetarians. There’s always a salad bar, and you can always get a baked potato.”

Investigative journalist David Kirby has published a book on the effects of factory farming on communities, Animal Factory.
Kirby details the lives of three individuals, using their experiences to illustrate how big business in the food system affects small people: a North Carolina fisherman who’s river is polluted by a nearby pig farm, a mother in Illinois affected by a dairy farm, and a grandmother who’s home is covered in soot and water supply is compromised from cattle waste runoff.

Angelina Jolie bought a $5,000 horse hair bag, but investigated before saying “yay,” to neigh.
Before she was caught carrying the Akris ecru horsehair handbag, Jolie had her stylist call the company to see if they treated the horses well.
“We told her horses get haircuts just like we do,” Akris designers Albert Kriemler said.
As a spokesperson for the company, nothing but positive responses would be expected.
