Dr. Oz Says Vegetarian Diets Tastes Just As Good As Meat

Dr. Oz is famous for helping millions of viewers across the nation adopt healthier eating habits. But while growing up, the TV doc and heart surgeon recalls he was nothing but a meat and potatoes eater. In an exclusive video for People Magazine, Oz explained how meeting his wife Lisa changed everything.

“I grew up eating a steak every night with mashed potatoes,” Oz told People. “It was a routine, kind of how my mom showed her love for me was to make that meal.”

Sure, soda is scandalous–it’s full of high-fructose corn syrup, empty calories and preservatives–but how does it’s illicitness compare, ounce per ounce, with the same serving of marijuana?

Using glasses filled with both, ahem, “products,” Johnson and Stewart joke that the fine for a restaurant serving a tall glass of “Coke,” (the legal kind) would be greater than a glass of the illegal plant.

Is this Big Brother looking after New Yorkers or just another attempt to curtail choice and freedom?

Food Network chef Michael Symon sells t-shirts that read, “Eat More Meat.” The Chew hosts wrote a cookbook titled, A Modern Day Meat Bible. And at his Roast restaurant in Detroit, Michigan, there’s a regular meat item featured on the menu titled “Roast Beast of the Day.”

So what the heck is this guy doing professing his love for Meatless Mondays?

Rachael Ray hosted vegan couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi on her show and also welcomed their personal chef Roberto Martin. DeGeneres joined the discussion from her studio via Skype.

The group talked about vegan cheese, vegan diets and weight maintenance and shared the couple’s favorite recipes, including stuffed mushrooms; red beans and rice; hamburger spring rolls and fajita quesadillas containing vegan cheddar and mozzarella cheese, something Ellen said reminds her of the real thing.
