Like the fact that if everyone did a Meat Free Monday (or Friday, Saturday or Sunday), the United States would save 1.5 billion pounds of crops normally fed to livestock.
That’s enough to feed the state of New Mexico for over a year!

Bethenny Frankel "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" PETA Ad
Who would have thought a harmless little nude photo would stir up so much commotion?
Vegetarians and animal activists may love Bethenny Frankel‘s PETA “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” Ad, but other people, including her own Real Housewives girlfriends, think differently.
Some are wondering why non vegetarian Bethenny, who reportedly has a new cookbook full of chicken recipes, could even begin to criticize someone for wearing fur.
PETA responded by saying, “Bethenny is not a vegan and never claimed to be. She has, however, brought much-needed attention to PETA’s anti-fur campaign.”
And do those naysayers remember that Bethenny has given love to plenty of vegetarian recipes, including dishes with tofu and Boca Burgers?
But even if Bethenny turned total veggie, some still would find fault at how sperminated Bethenny chose to have her PETA ad air brushed to cover her pregnancy weight gain.
New Jersey Housewife Teresa Giudice sniped, “Someone tell Bethenny that sperm does not make you look fat. I’m not buying the airbrushing thing in any case.”

After the victory of preventing downer cattle from entering the food supply, the Humane Society of the United States would like to extend this rule to pigs as well.
Nicole Lapin, CNN anchor reports: “Not only cruel, but the Humane Society says it’s also dangerous to our health to have so-called downers enter into our food supply.”
Perhaps everyone should follow Lapin’s lead and go veg, excluding pigs and all animals from their diets.
The National Pork Producers Association insists proper precautions are already being made to ensure diseased pig product isn’t delivered to the consumer, but Dr. Michael Greger of the HSUS has a different opinion.
Alyson Hannigan was a guest on Gordon Ramsay‘s Cookalong Live show where she, LeAnn Rimes, Cedric the Entertainer and Ramsay made some really ugly steak.
But steak’s not cute, so Alyson will eat it.
“I don’t eat cute things,” Alyson says, when Ramsay asks her about vegetarianism around minute 4:18 in the video. “I’m a cute-a-tarian…Anything I want as a pet, I won’t eat it.”
Does Alyson even remember where steak comes from? Who wouldn’t want an adorable cow as an animal companion…as long as the landlord’s pet deposit wasn’t too high.
When Pope Benedict XVI issued a statement regarding World Day of Peace on January 1 and protecting the environment, PETA’s Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs, Bruce Friedrich, took the opportunity to ask him to serve only vegan meals at the Vatican.
“On behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and our more than 2 million members and supporters worldwide, we applaud your strong exhortations for environmental protection, and we urge you to consider the fact that the most effective action an individual can take to fight climate change is to go vegan (which means not consuming poultry, fish, meat, eggs or dairy products).”
Pope Benedict XVI has spoken out on animal welfare issues before, like factory farming and the production of foie gras.
When asked by German journalist, Peter Seewald, “Are we allowed to make use of animals, and even to eat them?” His Holiness answered:
“At any rate, we can see that they are given into our care, that we cannot just do whatever we want with them. Animals, too, are God’s creatures. Certainly, a sort of industrial use of creatures, so that geese are fed in such a way as to produce as large a liver as possible, or hens live so packed together that they become just caricatures of birds, this degrading of living creatures to a commodity seems to me in fact to contradict the relationship of mutuality that comes across in the Bible.”
One of country music’s favorite sweethearts, Carrie Underwood, is engaged!
Carrie and the lucky guy, Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher, haven’t set a date yet.
“My family generally supports everything I do,” Carrie says, in the AP video above on her parents thoughts about Fisher.
That means her parents also supported her going vegetarian, even though they are cattle ranchers.
And Carrie gave them respect back.
Carrie said of her parents careers, “I respect what they do very much. That’s what put clothes on my back and paid for college. But cows were like my dogs. I named them, I played with them, I bottle-fed them. When I realized why we had cows, I couldn’t think of anyone eating my friends. It scared me, and I quit eating meat.”
Will the Fisher-Underwood home be a shared diet one, or will Carrie teach Fisher to tackle veggie meals, much like fellow ice master Georges Laraque?

What’s even more exciting is that one of television’s most popular and hilarious hosts, Ellen DeGeneres, along with her partner Portia de Rossi went vegan.
