Miami Dolphins v Carolina Panthers

You’ve heard of actors getting in touch with their characters through a change in lifestyle that involves learning a new hobby or visiting a specified location.

Sean Pamphilon, filmmaker behind ESPN’s “30 for 30” episode about NFL player Ricky Williams, lived the Miami Dolphins’ running back life for the duration of his filming.

This included attending the yoga classes taught by Williams and eating mostly vegan.

The episode, Run Ricky Run, is scheduled to air on April 27 at 8PM on ESPN.

The Cove director Louie Psihoyos and Ric O’Barry were caught on the red carpet, where Louie spoke about the Sea World tragedy and the idea of mammals being held in captivity.

“One animal killing three people in one lifetime shows these animals are stressed, they don’t belong in captivity,” he said. “And when we capture them out of the wild and force them to do stupid tricks for our amusement, it says more about our intelligence than it does theirs.”

The Cove won Best Documentary at last night’s Oscars.

O’Barry mentioned how the film’s nomination helped bring attention to the “largest dolphin slaughter in the world,” and hints he’ll be back to work fighting for animals after the post Oscar party ends.

Life In A Metro UK Film Premiere - Inside Arrivals

Bollywood star John Abraham is set to produce a film on tiger preservation, according to One India Entertainment.

The movie, The Return of the Tiger, will be directed by Mike Pandey.

“I decided to produce the film because I truly believe tigers are one of the most magnificent creatures on this planet,” Abraham said. “And if we don’t take quick and immediate action to preserve them there will be no tigers left.”

Some experts estimate there are only about 4,000 tigers remaining in the wild, compared to 100,000 existing a century ago.

It’s no surprise that Abraham is so interested in wildlife preservation, given his history of commitment to animals.

A noted vegetarian, he’s was nominated for PETA’s Sexiest male vegetarian last year.

The Return of the Tiger is expected to be screened at film festivals and wildlife preservation summits.

“It depends on what city I’m in. I love Pure Food & Wine in NYC; Millennium in San Francisco; Sages in Salt Lake City; Sublime in Fort Lauderdale; and in LA, Veggie Grill, Real Food Daily, M Café, and, especially, my own kitchen with lots of family and friends!”

“No matter what city I’m visiting, or where I’m going, I check out happycow.com and healthydiningfinder.com to find the best veg*n restaurants in that area. That’s how I even discovered soy cheese pizza at the rim of Grand Canyon!”

Premiere Of Sony Pictures' "Zombieland" - Arrivals

It’s no secret now that Woody Harrelson had strict requirements for the set of Zombieland to be eco friendly during filming, including banning plastic water bottles and using biodegradable plates and utensils.

“The first two were fairly reasonable about casting and crew. The third was that we have an environmentally conscious set,” said director Ruben Fleischer.

Woody also wanted Fleischer to go to cheese rehab.

“And the fourth was that I don’t eat dairy for a week.”

No easy feat for Fleischer, the cheeseaholic.

“For me to not eat cheese is like for an alcoholic not to drink. I had a hard time, especially since it was Memorial Day when he asked me and there were all the summer barbecues. But I ended up being a vegetarian for 11 months as a result.”

Director, writer and producer Paul Saltzman will be leading a tour of India in February 2010 where the Beatles visited in 1968.

Saltzman was with Paul McCartney and the others during that trip and recalled how the environment fueled the creative juices of the band.

Q: The India trip was a very creative time for them, especially Paul and John. From your experience there, can you say why?
Paul Saltzman: For sure: creativity comes from deep within each and every one of us, and it’s unlimited, without end. At the ashram, an oasis of calm in their very hectic lives, with the sound of the Ganges River burbling below, flights of green parakeets in the trees, simple vegetarian food and daily meditation, the inner creativity just flowed to the surface.

Of course, creativity works much better when you’ve consumed wholesome, energy producing foods versus refined carbs or greasy meats that will leave you sluggish, drowsy, and motivated to do nothing but take a nap.

For more information on the tour Paul is leading in February, visit Bestway Tours at bestway.com or call 1-800-663-0844. From outside the US and Canada, call 604-264-7378.
