The Kind Diet

Alicia Silverstone is launching a brand new website, thekindlife.com, which will offer all her advice for all products green and vegan.

Kind of like Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Goop.com without the Thanksgiving turkey hints.

The site is pretty much bare bones now, but will get busy on October 13, the same day Silverstone’s book, The Kind Diet, is set for release.

From EcoStiletto.com:

“I created a website called TheKindLife.com to get people hooked on all my groovy latest finds—that will happen around the time of the book. I love Tammy Fender and Suki—those are my favorite skin care lines. Josie Maran lip gloss and eyeshadows [link]. Kiss My Face and Giovanni for shampoo. Desert Essence for conditioner—it smells so yummy! And Pharmacopia moisturizer. It’s all organic, except for a teeny bit of parabens. That’s my one naughty treat. I buy it like once a year. It’s smells so yummy! We have to all write to them so they’ll take the parabens out.”

We’ll be bookmarking this one for sure!

Woody Harrelson Comfort Foods Include Mango, Avocado

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 in Actors, Food & Drink.

Woody Harrelson visits 'The Late Show with David Letterman' in NYC

Woody Harrelson doesn’t find pleasure in mac and cheese, warm cornbread, or any other traditional comfort food.

If the zombies invaded Hollywood much like they did in Zombieland, Woody would be headed for the produce section of the store, not the sweet aisle to find Twinkies like his Zombieland character Tallahassee.

“I’d be searching for a mango,” Woody told New York Times. “Or an avocado. It really is a tough call between the two.”

Avocado?

Maybe Woody should pay Jason Mraz a visit. He, Jason and Olivia Wilde could go crazy on the green fruit.

What’s your comfort food during hard or stressful times, zombies or no zombies peeking through your window?

Stand Up To Cancer - Arrivals

It’s October and that means Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fitsugar.com has compiled a slideshow of 10 celebrity breast cancer survivors, and two of the ladies are vegetarian favorites, Melissa Etheridge and Christina Applegate.

Doctors found a lump in Melissa’s breast in 2004 and she sought chemo and radiation treatment, performing bald at a Janis Joplin tribute in 2005.

After Christina Applegate’s breast cancer was detected, she decided to remove both breasts and treated herself to a brand new pair of manufactured boobs after her surgeries.

As we’ve cited before, vegetarians tend to have lower death rates from cancer than meat eaters.

Moby Easy Vegan In Mexico City: Mas Frijoles, Menos Manteca

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 in Food & Drink, Male Musicians, Male Singers.

Premiere Of "Is Anybody There?" - After Party

Moby arrived in Mexico City as part of his recent tour and said la comida is bueno!

“just arrived in mexico city. and just had tortillas y frijoles negros y guacamole. see, it’s easy to be vegan in mexico. well, as long as they don’t get crazy with the manteca.”

Yes, when in Mexico, pile on the heart healthy and fiber filled black beans on the tortillas with plenty of salsa and good for you fat avocado.

Just say “no, gracias” to the manteca, which is fat, many times lard in Mexican dishes.

If you can’t make it to Mexico City, you can at least make it to your grocer’s freezer, where you’ll find several frozen Amy’s Mexican entrees like Burritos and Wraps, or Black Bean Enchilada and Black Bean Tamale Verde.

Stella McCartney Bans Fish From Office

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 in Fashion, Food & Drink.

Stella McCartney in Berlin, Germany

Stella McCartney is turning into Morrissey and dictating what her employees can eat on the job.

The web is circulating with stories that Stella bans tuna and other seafood from her offices because she doesn’t want people to think she’s eating animals.

“Sometimes, at lunchtime, I can really smell fish when people are eating, and then I’ll shout, ‘OK guys, enough fish.’ My argument is, if a journalist comes into our office and it stinks of fish, that’s weird.”

If that’s true, is Stella banning all meat from her offices? If not, shouldn’t she be?

Fellow Brit Morrissey prohibits any consumption of animal food while on tour and when an employee asked if fish were okay, he replied, “Sea food is sea life,” and the same rules applied.

Bet more vegs wished they could ban their co-workers from meat, especially when the office microwave starts churning at lunchtime.

Ew. Is that beef stew again?
