Beatles "Yesterday and Today" album cover

Beatles "Yesterday and Today" album cover

According to some sources, Paul McCartney wasn’t introduced to vegetarianism by Linda McCartney until the mid 70s. Sounds true, cause there would be no way Paul would have posed with raw meat cuts for the Beatles’ Yesterday and Today album cover in 1966.

The Telegraph has a story on several artists who’ve pulled a raw meat Gaga stunt and when the album was created, the Beatles wanted to make a statement about the Vietnam war by posing as butchers with chunks of meat and butchered dolls.

Advanced copies of the album created too much controversy, so the record label’s management ordered a new cover, but many of the originals still remain.

“By the way, that’s not an ad for McDonald’s in case you missed that. The hamburger in a dead man’s hand. Yes, hamburgers kill. I just thought the Hamburglar stole stuff. He steals your life.”

Glenn Beck, during a recent segment of his talk show on the new ad created by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine that’s airing in the Washington, D.C. area linking McDonald’s to heart disease. Not that Beck is championing the ad, of course. He later goes on to sarcastically suggest that people will automatically start running to carrots and suggests that although the ad is a “nudge” to encourage people to eat healthier, future initiatives could include punishment and jail time.

Dating In The Dark

Dating In The Dark

Dating in the Dark is getting rave reviews from Vegetarian Star this season just because they’re doing such a good job of showcasing meatless babes.

Earlier in the season, the show that lets couples get to know each other in a dark room (ha, ha, not what you’re thinking) to see if they’re compatible without taking looks into account featured a swim instructor who was vegetarian for ethical reasons.

And most recently, the show had two meatless gals, Kayla, a vegan and Kahleel, a vegetarian, trying to score carrots with the men on the show.

Kayla is the stereotypical preachy vegan who wants everybody on organic, whole grain seitan while Kahleel is happy to have people skip the chicken for faux nuggets.

What’s could possibly go wrong? The two veggies want the same guy! Who wins? Watch the episode below to find out.

Inside Underwood reveals that although she’s extremely health conscious, her primary reason for eating vegetarian is her love of animals.

Jamie Oliver To Create Vegetarian Cookbook (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 in Chefs, Food & Drink, Videos.

Jamie Oliver has an exclusive interview with the Huffington Post where he revealed he plans to take all of his vegetarian recipes and put them into one collection.

Although Oliver insists every one of his cookbooks have always been at least 60% vegetarian, he’s giving veggies something they’ve always asked for in not having to wade through the recipes that aren’t pertinent. It will also prevent him from being assaulted by vegetables from the vegetarians who are tired of thumbing through the index to find what they need.

“Often I get cornered out by vegetarians who are going to knock me out with a cucumber. I’m like “dude, look in the back of the book. Open up the index and there’s all these little v’s.” And they’ll go “Oh, right, but we want out own book.” For many years I just felt like, “C’mon, stop being so sensitive.” But actually this year we’re going to bundle all of my vegetarian recipes and vegan recipes into one big massive, mammoth book and give ’em that book. Because it’s right. You know, in the old days there wasn’t so many vegetarians and now there’s many. Vegetarian as a general concept is a brilliant thing. We’ve got to stop eating so much meat. We are eating too much meat.”
