Michael Vick‘s return to the football field has drew a lot of talk, much of which is from the vegetarian community.
PETA’s president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk was recently interviewed on MSNBC to give her thoughts on the matter.
PETA had considered working with Vick after his prison release, but weren’t convinced Vick was truly a changed man.
During the video, Ingrid reminds everyone of the reasons why PETA couldn’t form a partnership, including the fact that “claw marks” were found on the pools where dogs were drown and Vick put “family pets” in the ring to fight with other dogs.

Comments Off on Michael Jackson Tigers, Thriller And Sabu, Near California Wildfires

This just in from TMZ.
The Shambala Preserve, where Michael Jackson’s old tigers Thriller and Sabu are housed, is close to where the California wildfires are taking place.
However, despite mandatory evacuations, sanctuary officials are not going anywhere.
“We house 64 big cats and it would be a logistical nightmare to bring all these cats down the road and get in the firefighters way of doing their job,” Tippi Hedren, owner of the sanctuary said.
The sanctuary staff plans to stay on the grounds with the tigers and ride the fire out.
What do you think?
Should there have been more emergency plans on part of the sanctuary in case of a situation like this?
Hard to move 64 tigers, but when you have a sanctuary in a place where you know disasters like these happens…kind of like buying ocean front property without flood insurance.
We hope things turn out okay.

Talk about horror!
The new flick Sorority Row, starring Rumer Willis, is about a group of sorority sisters who accidentally kill a girl and try to keep it a secret.
Good luck with that one.
One of the sets on Sorority Row is filmed in an actual slaughterhouse.
Rumer was interviewed by The Today Show and mentions the “drains” and “hooks” she saw and how they added to the horror experience.
Not nearly as horrifying for animals, I’m sure, as none of them would pay for a show in a real slaughterhouse.
Watch Rumer describe the set.

Comments Off on Heather Mills Debuts Be@1 Fashion Line On The “Catwalk”
Heather Mills‘ much talked about fashion line, Be@1, launched last week. The event took place at the Celebrity Catwalk charity in Hollywood Highlands. Be@1 takes used clothing and recycles it, helping to make Mother Earth a little more fashionable, ridding her of all the junk placed in her landfill trunk.
Heather states on her website:
“Society throws away over a million tones of clothing and textiles into the rubbish bins annually. Many of these items could be resold or remade into something new and exciting. This is why eco aware and fashion loving Heather had the idea to develop this new inspirational clothing line. The collection consists of women’s and menswear, designed for the assertive, fashionable and eco-conscious person. All the fabrics used in the pieces have been carefully sourced and remodeled into something unique and highly wearable. From a haute couture recycle lace white evening gown to a pair of high waisted trousers for the office, B@1 is about to show there is nothing trashy about recycling unwanted clothing!”
Be@1 will produce two collections per year for men, women, and children.

Whatever happened to Wilbur the pig from Charlotte’s Web?
After he finished his red carpet activities and stole the spotlight from Dakota Fanning, Wilbur went to live happily ever after on the farm in Tennessee he was picked from with farmer John Batey.
But that almost didn’t happen.
After being chosen to appear on the front cover of an updated version of the book by E.B. White, “Charlotte’s Web,” Wilbur was headed for the slaughterhouse, much to the public’s outcry.
“Calls from Canada, Boston and New York came to the Batey home. “A Saskatchewan radio station thought our famous pigs would be of interest to their listeners,” said Melissa Batey, John’s wife. A vegetarian woman from Boston called to see what was going to happen to Wilbur. Even the publishing company called to offer a pig sanctuary for Wilbur. Calls also came in from Kingsport and Chattanooga.”
Happy ending?
Well, sorta.
Wilbur still lives on Batey farm. But it is still a farm, where other pigs are raised and sent to slaughter. Wilbur just gets “spared.”
But Batey maintains it’s a better life than at a sanctuary.
“I’ve seen those, and what a pitiful life,” said Batey. “I felt he would be much better off with his own kind and someone he knows. He is running with the sows, and they are about his size.”
