While serving a few months in prison for assault and false imprisonment of a male escort, George gave back to the world in more ways than one. In several interviews, he’s discussed how he got in the kitchen and made vegetarian meals for fellow inmates.
The money donated by DiCaprio is to help save tigers, a species the WWF estimates only 3,200 exist in the wild, compared to 100,000 a hundred years ago.
DiCaprio also attended the five day conference in St. Petersburg, Russia, the International Forum on Tiger Conservation, designed to create a plan to stop activities that are responsible for the animals’ decline, such as poaching and destruction of habitat.
“Illegal poaching of tigers for their parts and massive habitat loss due to palm oil, timber and paper production are driving this species to extinction,” said DiCaprio.
Comments Off on Katie Cassidy Vegan Lapse In “The Monte Carlo” Left Her Constipated
Katie Cassidy found out the hard way that the words “Let Them Eat Cake” should have been proceeded by “Give them some laxatives.”
“The Monte Carlo” star was filming in Hungary for the movie and had nothing but bad luck when it came to food. First, she discovered there isn’t much to eat there that doesn’t have animal products in it. Then, when it was time to shoot a scene involving eating, the director suggested she eat baked goods. The only problem was, like many movie scenes, it took several shots to get it right. And each time, Cassidy ate more cake. Constipating cake.
“I’m telling you, when you go from being vegan to eating cake like that, your bowels are frozen for probably three weeks!” Cassidy told George Lopez.
Comments Off on Fran Drescher Vegan Curious For “The Fran Drescher Tawk Show”
Fran Drescher is back with a talk show to celebrate that nasal accent we all loved and hated on “The Nanny.”
“The Fran Drescher Tawk Show,” is set to debut on Fox today.
The 90s sitcom star indicates one of the major topics she’d like to discuss is health, being a cancer survivor herself. Interestingly enough, veganism has sparked her interest as the medium in which people may be able to obtain better health.
“I’m not a vegan, but I’m curious about it,” she said, according to Fox News.
Vegetarian Star will suggest Fran read Living Vegan For Dummies, to get a glimpse of everything from nutritional needs, meal plans and tips for traveling and eating out.
What advice would you give to the vegan curious Drescher?
Billy Bob Thornton is living in the Year of the Raw. Wait, isn’t 2010 the Year of the Tiger? Yes, but it’s Billy’s year to eat healthy in an attempt to balance other nasty activities he does like smoking.
Consuming a diet of what he describes as “beyond vegan,” the actor follows a strict raw diet of fruits, vegetables, and plant proteins, but he alternates that with eating “regular stuff.”
Comments Off on “Convicted Vegetarian” Web Cooking Show By Yves Veggie Cuisine (Video)
Convicted Vegetarian is a new web-based cooking show on YouTube which features chef Vic, a biker and rock musician, demonstrating vegetarian recipes using Yves Veggie Cuisine products, which is sponsoring the shows. Chef Vic made the decision to give up meat after his children were born, but make no mistake about it, animal flesh is one of the few things Vic gave up for fatherhood.
Still retaining what we hope is a pleather jacket, long hair and earrings, Vic hosts a show that symbolized by a chef’s hat sitting on a skull and crossbone, breaking the stereotype of vegetarian men being docile, passive or wimpy.
Chef Vic has made corndogs with slaw, veggie burger dishes and the clip here is for vegetarian Thanksgiving stuffing using Yves Veggie Brats.
Comments Off on Rachael Leigh Cook Likes Thanksgiving From The Can
Fresh isn’t how you describe Rachael Leigh Cook‘s preference for some Thanksgiving sides. Proof that vegetarians aren’t always stuffy foodies who refuse anything not made from scratch, Cook shared how she likes her berries.
“I’m a vegetarian. I’m all about stuffing and only canned cranberry sauce. If you can’t see a serial number stamped onto it, I don’t want it.”
Our pick for Cranberry Sauce is Organic Grown Right, available in either jellied or whole berry. Certified Organic. Not to mention Kosher. And check out their other products from the tin like butternut squash and pumpkin pie filling.
The birth comes just weeks after the launch of Stella’s first clothing line for children, which features eco-friendly organic fabrics, no fur or leather and even a shirt that benefits the McCartney family’s Meat-Free Monday campaign to reduce meat consumption’s impact on the planet.
Will Stella’s latest edition serve as an inspiration for more baby designs from her collection? Ethical and environmentally conscious moms of the world sure hope so!
