Bob’s Burgers got a lukewarm reaction from us, but the weekly alternative newspaper Boise Weekly has complaints its burger experience was served raw in an article titled, “Bob’s Burgers Might Make You Go Vegetarian.”

“Bob’s Burgers, about two months into its debut, is a show about Bob Belcher and his family–a wife with a grating New York accent (voiced by a man), a dumb son who doesn’t understand anything and two dumb daughters who don’t understand anything. They’re trying to run a profitable hamburger shop.”

This year, the Pasadena Showcase of Design will feature greening the garage space with garage designer to the stars Garage Envy. Ed Begley Jr. is one of Garage Envy’s clients.

Begley Jr. spoke to the Pasadena Showcase of Design, giving his thoughts on how existing, older homes can be made more sustainable.

“The one thing I like about the Pasadena Showcase house is that they’re doing as much repurposing as possible–saving as much timber and brick and stone and tile and everything and not putting it in a landfill,” Begley says in the video.

“Oh, we’re going to put up a new energy efficient home,” Begley says of the builders who aim to go green but may be wasting much in the process. “Ok, that’s good on one end that you have an energy efficient home, but how did you get there? What kind of materials did you waste in the process?”

The Pasadena Showcase House of Design is open from April 17-May 15, 2011.

The video featuring Begley Jr. can be viewed below.

Runway to Green is launching a collection of fashions created by some of the world’s top designers in order to raise awareness about environmental issues.

Each designer has created an item for the Runway to Green collection that will be available in retail stores nationwide. These same designers have made the commitment to investigate more sustainable manufacturing standards set forth by the Clean by Design intiative from the Natural Resources Defense Council.

All designers pledged to adhere to eco-friendly standards when creating the pieces, so it’s no surprise vegan designer John Bartlett made the decision to write to Salma Hayek, one of the hosts of the event, urging her to keep fur out.

“Ultimately as a society, the better we treat animals, it says a lot more about us. I understand if people choose to eat animals, but you don’t have to treat them cruelly.”

Constance Marie, actress who’s been a vegetarian for 25 years, at the Humane Society’s 25th annual Genesis Awards.

Constance’s view that even meat eaters can step up the compassion is mirrored by the Humane Society’s work on the legislative level to bring changes to the way farm animals are treated. The HSUS has successfully gotten laws passed in states like California, Maine and Michigan that prohibit confining certain types of farm animals like pigs, calves and egg-laying hens to crates and small cages.
