David Hasselhoff

Comedy Central presented The Roast of David Hasselhoff, where the famous took jabs, made wisecracks and downright humiliated the actor about his life, including some of the more embarrassing moments, like the video that made its way on the Internet of him lying on the floor drunk trying to eat a cheeseburger.

Former Baywatch actress and fellow castmate Pamela Anderson was present and she took the video as the opportunity to state her pro-vegetarian views.

“David, I have to say, when I saw the video of you lying on the floor — drunk, broken down, cheeseburger meat falling from your mouth — I felt so sad. For that cow.”

The video incident caused David to later reveal to the public he was a recovering alcoholic, which Anderson took a shot at as well.

“David took his role on Baywatch very seriously. You know, one time I actually saw him rescue a real person who was drowning. David rescued the man, pulled him ashore, gave him mouth-to-mouth…and, of course, the man immediately died of alcohol poisoning.”

The clip of Anderson’s jokes from the roast can be viewed below.

The Beef Council sent brisket to not only Rip’s house, but every fire house in Austin, Texas.

Some people have no manners, you know?

“At first I was pissed, but then I thought, This is amazing, because it shows how worried they are; it shows that they recognize that people’s consciousness is changing and that this is something for them to worry about,” Rip said. “I thought, Wow, how ballsy of them!”

The author and firefighter has an interview with Supervegan about tofu, vegan cheese, his partnership with Whole Foods and more.

The best cooks do it without measuring, right? Either that or the end product is a horrible mess.

"The Dorm Room Diet" Daphne Oz

Today’s tip for becoming healthier in our giveaway of  Daphne Oz‘s “Dorm Room Diet” book involves improving the quality of food at your college cafeteria.

When the factory farmed McBurger restaurants and imported produce salad bars outnumber whole wheat pasta and local veggies in the cafe court, don’t fret. Daphne says concerned students can help by encouraging their schools to start a Farm To School Program. These programs get schools to invest a portion of their cafeteria supplies from local producers. The result is a better grade for food, people and the environment as less fuel is used to transport food, local farmers get more business and fresher selections become available.

Renee Oldstead

Renee Olstead and her dog Ella Fitzgerald sat down with Peta2 and discussed vegetarianism, dog fighting and dissecting animals.

Olstead got motivated to go vegetarian on the set of a sitcom where a character’s lines reminded her of what she was actually eating when she sat down for a burger.

“I was on a sitcom when I was about 12. And they had this one line where one of the characters was vegetarian and she said, ‘No thanks, I don’t eat anything with a face.’ And I just turned white. From that moment I suddenly realized that what I was eating was alive and had a mother and breathed; and it suddenly became so appalling.”

Brandon Routh

Brandon Routh plays a vegan with telekinesis powers in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, as it sure sounds like this guy has some super vegan cooking powers in real life.

According to an interview with Maxim, Routh has developed an egg and dairy allergy over the years, so he’s learned to modify one of his favorite foods and sometimes makes vegan pancakes.

Maxim: So you like pancakes?
Routh: I love pancakes. Always have. When I was growing up back in Iowa, we used to have breakfast for dinner. It was the one thing my dad was good at doing, so if Mom was busy he’d make us pancakes.

Routh: I’ve actually gotten a taste for vegan pancakes. I think the vegan ones I make are as good or better than the ones with eggs, butter, and milk.”
