Glee Cheerleaders Exclusive Performance at Foxs Upfront Presentation

Lisa Edelstein has told us all about her vegan shoe problem in the past.

Although she sometimes wears leather shoes, the House actress and vegetarian says she tries to support vegan companies whenever possible.

“There are some wonderful emerging companies that have great vegan shoes and bags and I try to support them as much as possible.”

Edelstein, along with other celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, Laura Wright, and John Henson share their secrets for being green on Mother Nature Network.

I’m the crazy person that for the last 20 years has brought my own bags to the grocery store,” Edelstein said. “I use environmentally friendly cleaning supplies in my house, I use biodegradable doggie bags and I drive a hybrid. I do what I can. If everybody does what they can it will make an enormous difference.”

If you’re looking for a vegan shoe, it might surprise you to know they’re not as scarce as some realize. Even shops like Target will usually have a few pairs containing completely man-made material.

With well known designers like Elizabeth Olsen to a pocketbook and environmentally friendly Zoe and Zac brand at Payless Shoes, you’re guaranteed plenty of opportunities to have your style and ethics too.

Elizabeth Olsen’s Olsen Haus Shoes Make Vegan Stylish

Vegan shoe designer Elizabeth Olsen has her own slideshow going on at New York Magazine.

The pics feature several of Elizabeth’s designs like the Balance in Black and Red; Ultra Suede on the left and Brazil in Citron; Ultra Suede on the right.

Elizabeth’s been a vegetarian for 19 years and a vegan for the past 2 years.

“I wanted to be the example of stylishness being synonymous with being aware of where your item came from, what it’s made of, and its impact on the earth, animals, and people,” she said, of her decision to launch her collection.

And just cause they’re vegan, doesn’t mean they have to be plain or ugly.

“Why should something, because it is vegan or earth-friendly, always be in neutral colors, or a loose relaxed fit?”

The Telegraph was interviewing Chrissie Hynde when she revealed she was wearing a pair of Stella McCartney faux leather boots.

The price of a Stella shoe can reach up to seven, eight, and nine hundred dollars. Easy for a rock star like Chrissie, but maybe not so much for the rest of us who haven’t released new albums like Break Up The Concrete.

Don’t despair, as Chrissie says, “you can get the cheap junk at the market.”

Sure, cheap synthetic shoes are abundant. But then you have to worry about the chemicals involved in producing them and whether or not someone like your kid sister was gluing them together. And you thought choosing a pair of shoes was all about ensuring they didn’t give you blisters!

Elizabeth Olsen’s got some nice vegan boots for around $250, like the Thriller.

Price still not right? Chuck the boots altogether and pick up some Zoe and Zac shoes from Payless for under $30! They’re made with sustainable and recycled material and some profits go towards planting new trees.  What could be more beautiful, except of course, your feet in them?

Green Day MySpace Music The List Concert

Mike Dirnt of Green Day has been busy in more than one studio lately.

Besides recording the band’s latest album, 21st Century Breakdown, Mike’s been plugging away at Macbeth’s vegan shoe headquarters, putting the finishing touches on his personally designed shoe, the 45 RPM.

Like most other Macbeth shoes, the 45 RPM is completely vegan. The style comes in both low top and high top varieties and are available at Journeys.com.

Vegan shoes are comprised of several materials that are either natural or synthetic, such as nylon or PVC, and often designed to imitate the look of leather. Even the glue holding the materials together is free of animal products.

Apparently, the contestants only had 90 minutes to complete the design. Pretty darn cute for a quickie, Johnny.
