Comments Off on Paul McCartney Backs Fox Hunting Ban
Paul McCartney is speaking out against a proposal to lift a ban on fox hunting that was put into effect in 2004.
“I, along with the majority of the British public, backed this historic victory for wildlife,” McCartney said, according to Yahoo News.
David Cameron, who is running for Prime Minister for the elections taking place in May, has said he will let members of Parliament decide if the ban should be lifted.
McCartney calls the practice of fox hunting “cruel and unnecessary.”
Kim Barnouin, co-author of Skinny Bitch and founder of Healthybitchdaily.com, has been interviewed by the Phillyist.
Skinny Bitch contains some pretty colorful language, which surprise some.
But when it comes to health, sometimes you have to be frank–it’s better to have a dirty mouth than a dirty artery.
“It was a very conscious decision to write the book like we talk normally,” Barnouin explained. “Yes, it’s a little harsh, but our country is in a health crisis. There isn’t time anymore for hand-holding. We wanted to wake people up and make them sit up and take notice about what’s in their food and how it gets to their plate. People are always telling me that because of the language, they were able to learn a lot of information and actually retain it and understand it. We talk to readers like they are our girlfriends: yes, a little potty-mouthed, but meant to be funny, not insulting.”
Kim is completing a cookbook that is scheduled for release later this year.

WBA Super Middleweight Boxing Champion Andre Ward is starring in a PSA for the Knock Out Dog Fighting Program.
The program partners with several organizations that come in contact with juveniles, such as law enforcement, schools and community centers in an effort to stop animal cruelty through education and by providing alternative activities for youth.
“Because of my accomplishments, I have a platform, whether I like it or not, and there are young and older people looking at me saying, ‘Ok, you’ve accomplished these great things but what are you going to do with your platform?’” Ward said.
“I plan to make a difference in the lives of others and bring awareness and knowledge to all who will listen about the cruelties of dog fighting and the link between those who abuse animals and those who abuse people.”
Ward has an undefeated record of 21-0 with 13 KOs as a professional boxer. He is also the only American boxer to win an Olympic gold medal in the past decade.
Comments Off on Meatless Mouthful–Renee Olstead Secret Life Of Vegetarianism
“I not only believe in it for health and ethical reasons, but because of the pollution and other byproducts of the meat industry and the mistreatment of animals.”
—-Renee Olstead, actress from Secret Life of the American Teenager, on why she’s a vegetarian.
“It was gruesome in that the chicken that they used, that was alive in one scene in the film, was then decapitated and used later on, so it put me off.”
