Comments Off on Alyssa Milano’s “Romantically Challenged” Fake Vegetarian Needs Real Water Tips
Alyssa Milano is a real vegetarian, but her co-star Josh Larson‘s character, Shawn, tried to fake being one to pick up a girl on a recent episode of Romantically Challenged.
Who knew vegetarian pick up lines existed?
Shawn was supposed to pick Perry up from the dentist, but instead he meets a chick and pretends to be the handsome meatless chap who knows how to solve the water crisis in India.
Perry is left dialing for a cab, talking from the one side of his mouth that’s operable.
If you’re going to use vegetarian points to snag the girl, at least arm yourself with some good facts about meat, plant crops and water, courtesy of Greenpeace.
“It can take up to 15 times as much water to produce animal protein as it does to produce protein from plants. According to author John Robbins in his book The Food Revolution, you could save more water by not eating a pound of California beef than you could by not showering for an entire year.”
“Livestock operations generate roughly 130 times as much bodily waste as the entire human population of the United States, which makes its way into the environment without going through the sewage treatment systems found in our cities and towns. This untreated waste pollutes American waterways more than all other industrial sources combined.”
Comments Off on “Food Party” Thu Tran Corn Recipe The Puppets Will Love
Thu Tran "Food Party"
Thu Tran is the host of the Independent Film Channel’s Food Party, a cooking show filmed on a cardboard set featuring gourmet meals and puppet guests that arrive to eat them.
Different.
Interesting.
A little freaky.
Anyway, we’d totally show up to eat with the puppets if Thu was cooking corn the way she likes it.
Although admitting to Zap2it she does like meat, Thu loves taking frozen corn and adding several spices to it.
“Sometimes I snack on that cold, but I used to really like to microwave it with three pats of butter and then add cayenne pepper and garlic powder and sugar, and eat that. It’s really good.”
That sounds incredibly delicious, and even the vegans can whip out their Earth Balance and have a good time with this.
The season 2 premiere of Food Party airs tonight at 10PM on the Independent Film Channel.
Take a look at a clip from last year’s show, featuring “Yolk-Oh O No!” having egg issues.
Comments Off on Jillian Michaels Vegan Pumpkin Cranberry Muffins Use Coconut Oil
Jillian Michaels "The Master Your Metabolism Cookbook"
Jillian Michael‘s new cookbook, the follow up to last year’s diet and health book, Master Your Metabolism, has just been released.
The Master Your Metabolism Cookbook is filled with 125 recipes and The Biggest Loser coach’s pumpkin cranberry muffins are vegan.
The muffins are sweetened with maple syrup and use coconut and olive oils in place of butter.
Because of its higher saturated fat content, coconut oil was once thought of as the black sheep of vegetable oils.
While partially hydrogenated or processed coconut oil should be avoided, unprocessed varieties in moderate amounts are beneficial, as they’ve been shown to both treat hypothyrodism and boost the immune system.
Comments Off on Alan Cumming “The Good Wife” Knows How To Melt Soy Cheese
Alan Cumming might take his leftover vegetarian lasagna with soy cheese to work on the set of the CBS drama The Good Wife, where he plays political campaign manager Eli Gold.
Whatever soy cheese he’s using, Cumming says it melts like the real thing.
“I’m a vegetarian,” Cumming told Wall Street Journal, “though I do eat eggs and cheese sometimes. But I make a good vegan lasagna with soy cheese. Soy cheese melts really well.”
Besides the examples of soy cheese we’ve given before, there’s a new kid on the block that is getting talked about a lot in vegetarian forums.
Unlike many other vegan cheeses, Daiya Cheese is soy free.
According to Look to the Stars, John Salley is the executive producer of Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days.
Simply Raw follows the lives of six Americans with diabetes as they switch from a life of junk food to a raw, vegan one and alleviate their diabetic symptoms without medication.
Several notables in the health and food industry make appearances, including Super Size Me‘s Morgan Spurlock, raw food activists Tony Robbins and Woody Harrelson and Eat to Live author Joel Fuhrman.
Dr. Neal Barnard, president of the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine, an organization that promotes a vegetarian diet for health and strict ethics in animal research, has written a book describing a similar program based on studies that a vegetarian diet can prevent, control and reverse the symptoms of diabetes.
“No, I didn’t. I should have though. No, I was kidding. A tabloid actually posted an article about Lea, about how [she] eats nothing but pork and ribs and hamburgers and all that. She couldn’t have been more mortified because [she’s] a hardcore vegetarian. So I just wanted to post a Tweet at her expense. As funny as it does sound, I couldn’t. She probably would have gotten sick. But it is pretty funny to think about.”
Frontier, a manufacturer of organic spices, has a vegetarian bacon bit product available, Bac’ Uns, made from soy flour and other vegan spices.
The price is similar to what you’d pay for Frontiers other organic spices and reviews at an online vegan product store, Vegan Essentials are mostly positive.
