In an interview with Las Vegas Weekly, the actor and musician revealed how the King of Pop served him his first vegetarian meal and how Feldman’s mother got him acquainted with the animal welfare side of things.
“At at early age, I became a vegetarian. There was a lot of resistance from family — “It will stunt your growth. It can’t be healthy.” But it started on The Goonies with Steven Spielberg. And with Michael Jackson. His chef cooked me my first-ever vegetarian meal. Michael Jackson presented it to me! Going vegetarian at such a young age, it was a stance for myself. “I’m doing it. I don’t believe in eating animals. You can survive in other ways.”

Sea Shepherd "Night For The Oceans"
Sea Shepherd is hosting a Night for The Oceans on October 23rd, to benefit the organization’s efforts.
The event is mainly “by invitation only” but the group has allocated 25 tickets available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis.
Stars for the evening include Captain Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd crew, Michelle Rodriguez, Daryl Hannah, Emily Deschanel and others.
A special announcement is expected to be made during the evening regarding a new vessel that will join Sea Shepherd’s “Operation No Compromise” mission in the Southern Ocean
Joanne Colan is a correspondent for Dean of Invention, a Planet Green series that follows Dean Kamen, who generated ideas such as Segway, the insulin pump and the robotic prosthetic called the “Luke Arm” as he unveils the latest discoveries and advancements in technologies.
Colan herself takes advantage of the advancements in the availability of nutritious, vegetarian food as she travels frequently and must make use of what’s available on the road. Although she doesn’t consume meat or dairy, Colan doesn’t consider herself a true vegan, as she consumes honey.
“Because her mother kept bees, my Mum (who lives in sw France) also kept bees for a little while. They were all “rescue bees” encouraged to relocate to a hive from someone’s windowsill or chimney and avoid extermination. Anyway that’s another story altogether. To harvest the honey, my mum would spin the frames in an extractor. I learned this apparently doesn’t filter the honey much.”
Two different vegans are representing some very good causes this fall. Emily Deschanel just gave her approval of World Go Vegan Week, which begins on October 24th and is mean to celebrate how a completely plant-based diet improves conditions for humans, the planet and animals.
Ellen DeGeneres is the spokesperson for Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt-A-Turkey event, which raises money for rescued turkeys at the sanctuary.
Between the two incredible vegan spokespersons, who would you rather…
Joanne Rose appeared as a guest on The Jazzy Vegetarian‘s vegan radio show to discuss her web video series, “Vegan 101,” which launched the first episode as a humorous take on vegans dating, “Dating a Vegan.”
Rose has a new ecookbook out, Living In Harmony, which is a gluten-free, vegan recipe book available on the internet, at Veganvision.net.
“It’s makes it more green and easy for everybody to have access to,” Rose said.
Rose shared her recipe for Coconut Yogurt, which uses a Thai coconut, probiotic and flavors to suit your taste like fruit or chocolate. Listen to the radio show to hear Rose discuss how to make it.
Victoria Beckham‘s representative has spoken on the criticisms the singer has received from People from the Ethical Treatment of Animals for creating a line of purses made from crocodile skin, lizard skin and calf leather.
The spokesperson insists the bags were made with the strictest “ethical” guidelines available.

A behind the scenes interview with Jillian Michaels as she films an ad for So Delicious Coconut Milk Beverage’s “Change Your Milk. Change Your Life,” campaign.
Michaels will be representing the vegan beverage, with the campaign to launch next year.
Michaels discovered the beverage while looking for non-dairy, milk alternatives in the grocery store and was impressed by the drink’s nutritional benefits, as well as the company’s ethics.
“I read the label, I scrutinized it from top to bottom and I compared it to every single thing on the shelf from dairy to non-dairy products. What I particularly loved were all the health benefits. No pesticides. The coconuts are no genetically modified in any way. In addition, there’s Vitamin D, there’s calcium, there’s medium chain fatty acids, which are great for your heart health, its low in calories…”
