Comments Off on Beyonce “Get Me Bodied” Song Anthem For “Let’s Move!” Campaign (Video)
Beyonce has filmed a different version of her “Get Me Bodied” song, titled “Work That Body,” to promote Michelle Obama‘s Let’s Move! campaign to get kids physically active and eating more fruits and vegetables.
The video, which features school children shaking it in the cafeteria, will be used in “dance-ins” that will take place in middle schools across the United States, starting May 3rd.
Haven’t heard one of these stories in a few months, so here’s something to get angry about ’cause we know all vegetarians love hearing famous people talk about how the diet failed them.
Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev went vegetarian for a few months. Then she became weak, tired (yawn, how many times have you heard this line) and decided she needed beef.
Marco Borges is the man behind the sleek physiques of many celebrities, including Beyonce. Borges is the author of the book Power Moves and creator of a line of vegan protein bars, 22 Days.
This personal trainer who gave fitness advice in Vogue’s annual Shape issue happens to also be a vegan. He got the idea for the protein bars based on the notion that it takes 21 days to make a new habit.
Comments Off on Meatless Mouthful–Jason Schwartzman Says All “Burgers” Good With Ketchup (Video)
“The devastation inflicted on our environment by factory farms is something we all have the power to stop by doing something as simple as ordering a veggie burger instead of a meat one. Please join me in taking the pledge to go meat free for a day, a month or longer. It’s a lot easier than you think, and let’s be real, all burgers taste the same with ketchup.”
—Jason Schwartzman, who voices a new short film about the effects of factory farms and the environment, What To Eat. Schwartzman is seen below in a 30-second promo for a site where you can learn more about eating better for the environment, platetoplanet.org.
Comments Off on “Top Chef Masters” Suvir Saran Makes Graceful Beans And Lentils Exit
Top Chef Masters had a healthy twist for their most recent challenge. Three meals had to be prepared for “The Biggest Loser” elimination round, where a day’s worth of entrees had to equal less than 1500 calories.
No problem for a vegetarian chef like Suvir Saran, who uses low-fat sources of protein like beans and lentils in his dishes and has refused to bend during the season, cooking plant-based meals for every challenge.
Jamie Oliver appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live with the superintendent from the Los Angeles Unified School District, John Deasy. The two made the announcement that starting next fall, flavored milks like chocolate and strawberry will no longer be served at schools because of their sugar content.
“There’s more sugar per ounce in flavored milk than there is in a can of soda,” Oliver said. “If you think about a little 4-year old to an 18-year old [drinking this] sometimes twice a day–just flavored milk–in their time at school and then you’re worried about diabetes?”
There is a slight catch to the deal though. If the school system can find flavored milks without added sugar, it may reintroduce them back into the cafeterias. And unfortunately, there is still not enough talk about adding a non-dairy beverage to school menus like rice, almond or soy.
Comments Off on Obama Makes Great Adoptable Dog Without Birth Papers Says PETA
In what may be the most humorous ad released by the group yet, PETA is capitalizing on the controversy of whether or not Obama was born in the United States.
