Comments Off on Roy Halladay Humane Society Spay And Neuter Pet PSA (Video)
Roy Halladay, pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, has filmed a promotional video for spaying and neutering pets for the Humane Society of the United States.
“As pet owners, we can help end the suffering of millions of dogs and cats,” said Halladay at the beginning of the video PSA. “Animal shelters struggle to assist the huge numbers of animal litters; many more suffer on the streets, never reaching the safety of a shelter. My family does our part in making sure our pets are spayed and neutered.”
Beverly Hills Nannies, a new reality TV series on ABC featuring behind the scenes stories of children of some of the zip code’s wealthiest families and the women and men who care for them, may have a vegan family on the show.

Comments Off on Aaron Simpson Weighs In On Arian Foster Vegan Diet Switch
Aaron Simpson has finally made the transition to a vegan diet after three years of fighting as a vegetarian.
In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, the MMA fighter discussed how doing so has benefited his athleticism and also gives input on Arian Foster‘s recent decision to go vegan as well.
“People are coming out and talking smack about (Houston Texans running back) Arian Foster because he’s decided to become vegan. They are saying he’s not going to be the running back he was and he is going to lose muscle mass. That’s just B.S. You can get great plant proteins that are healthier than animal proteins. It’s just a matter of being disciplined about it.”
Comments Off on Jesse Eisenberg Humane Society Video To Protect Exotic Birds
Jesse Eisenberg has recorded a PSA for the Humane Society of the United States that advises against buying exotic birds in stores.
Eisenberg had the opportunity to voice the character of a Macaw in Rio, a film about the trafficking of exotic birds and the destruction of their natural habitats.
“If an animal’s natural home is in the wild, then chances are, that’s where it belongs,” Eisenberg said. “Unfortunately, the demand for these intelligent, complex creatures—whether captive-bred or wild caught—is decimating the wild parrot species.”
Comments Off on Meatless Mouthful–Megyn Price Cares With Vegetarian Cookbook
“To me, cooking vegetarian is an expression of love. It’s saying, I’m taking care of my family. I’m taking care of myself. I’m taking care of animals that aren’t being killed. A cookbook is about sharing the joy of that.”
—Megyn Price, in an interview with Vegetarian Times on the vegetarian cookbook she’s currently working on. It’s sure to include plenty of enticing recipes like this one for Very Green Soup, an alternative to chicken soup during those sniffle moments. Price says that, “Chicken soup is traditional, but, last time I checked, it contains the little feathery friends I have in my front yard, so it’s not an option.”
Check out the cruelty-free option to chicken soup that contains rice, fresh herbs, various greens, tofu and more at Price’s blog, Scrambled Meg.
Comments Off on Mayim Bialik Raises Vegetarian Kids With Help Of Grandparents
Mayim Bialik took some time with Veg Writing Mama to discuss some things they both have in common–raising veggie kids!
Mayim feeds two boys at home on a vegan diet, and she says it wasn’t hard at all to explain why they were getting hummus and pita instead of beef jerky for snacks.
“I just tell them that this is the way we eat. It’s what our pediatrician, and Mommy and Daddy believe grows the best bodies and brains for the two of them. I do not want them making comparisons to others and don’t want them to go around saying that we are healthier than others.”
