Comments Off on Meatless Mouthful–Jared Leto To GQ On Looking 31 At 41
“I still have plenty of vices, but alcohol isn’t one of them. It’s probably just down to sleep and diet. If you travel long haul a lot or don’t sleep much, it’s not going to last very long, that’s for sure. I’m pretty healthy so I think that helps a lot. I’ve been that way for a long time – 20 solid years of eating vegetarian/vegan and taking care of myself. That probably helps the preservation process.”
—Jared Leto, in an interview with UK GQ, on how he keeps his youthful figure, which was temporarily disrupted for the filming of Chapter 27 where he played John Lennon’s killer, Mark Chapman. Leto said he ate “giant pizzas and everything you know you’re not supposed to eat” to prepare for the role.

Comments Off on “Martha Stewart Living” Favorite Recipes Include Tofu French Fries
Martha Stewart Living has compiled a list of favorite recipes.
Stewart’s talent for seitan is just as good if not better than her uses for steak so it’s no surprise that out of the 27 dishes put into the collection, there are several suitable for vegetarians.
There are three categories for Stewart’s favorite dishes: Chicken, Pasta and Healthy. And while most (even chicken dishes) can be made vegetarian, Stewart’s Tofu French Fries are a truly vegan dish that require no substitutions.

Comments Off on Bill Maher On Horse Meat Scandal (Video)
Bill Maher took on the hilarious challenge of discussing the recent horse meat appearing in the food supply controversy.
Several stores in the UK were found to have been carrying meat labeled as beef that contained horse meat and most recently, IKEA has come under fire for stocking meatballs that tested positive as well.
Maher, in his usual cynical way, used the scandal to remind everyone that given the state of food labeling today, it should be no surprise such as mixup was made. And if we’re used to eating every other animal on the planet, why are we so fussy about horses?
Comments Off on Meatless Mouthful–Mark Bittman On “VB6: Eat Vegan Before 6:00”
“I need rules. To say “I’m just going to eat better” doesn’t work for me. I can probably follow almost any rule I think that makes sense and doesn’t rob me of all of my enjoyment of food.”
“I could’ve said “vegan weekdays, omnivore weekends,” or “three weeks out of four vegan” but this makes the most sense to me. I want my health and I want to enjoy dinner.”
—Mark Bittman, to WLRN on the motivation behind his flexitarian eating plan of making both breakfast and lunch vegan. Bittman’s latest book, VB6: Eat Vegan Before 6:00 to Lose Weight and Restore Your Health…For Good, will be released in April.
