Katherine Jenkins “Believe” The Vegetarian Rumors

Written by Vegetarian Star on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 in Female Singers, Food & Drink.

Chelsea Flower Show - Press & VIP Preview Day

Katherine Jenkins is releasing a new album, Believe, on October 27 2009 and the mezzo soprano singer is probably ready to dodge the bullet of rumors regarding her off stage personality any minute now.

In the past, some have labeled her demanding and difficult.

“I am definitely not a diva,” she said.

Oh, good. And she’s no assault by cell phone Naomi Campbell either.

“For starters I have never thrown a mobile phone at anyone. It is so not me to do something like that. I would never ever.”

“There is always a grain of truth in things that are written, like me ordering a vegetarian meal. But I’ve been a veggie for three years, so what else would I eat? My mum would sort me out if she thought I was acting up – and give me a good slap.”

Katherine took some heat from vegetarians when she agreed to sing at Harrod’s Department Store, the same store that Leona Lewis turned down to open, because it sells fur.

Blink-182 For T-Mobile

Travis Barker interviewed with Radio Big Boy where confirmed our suspicions that he’s back to eating vegetarian since he quit the diet briefly after a plane crash last year.

Travis has also been toying with veganism, citing the facts he’s learned about the dairy industry as his motivation.

Plus, he’s recruited dear ol’ dad in the game.

RBB: You off of meat again, Travis?

Travis: I’m almost full blown vegan now.

RBB: Cause you were vegan before the accident.

Travis: I was vegetarian. I’ve pretty much cut out dairy as well.

RBB (joking): I was just about to offer you a glass of milk.

Travis: Once you find out all the crazy stuff with dairy, you’d probably second guess it too, man. My pops, he’s a Vietman Vet, hard core, old school-he used to make fun of me cause I didn’t eat meat…Now after being on tour and going to some of the spots, he’s at home trying to find vegan spots in that area.

To hear the entire interview, including Travis’ thoughts on the death of his friend DJ AM, visit Radiobigboy.com.

The vegan conversation starts at Part 3.

Gwyneth Paltrow Says Get Thee To Kogi Truck Taco Stand

Stella McCartney - Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

In Gwyneth Paltrow‘s latest edition of Goop.com she’s recommending you try the taco stands in L.A.

“I spent most of last spring and summer in Los Angeles doing lots of work and eating some incredible food…from the new phenomenon of the gourmet taco truck, to the tucked away neighborhood spots to the latest Suzanne Goin…the LA food is quietly and unpretentiously on fuego.”

One such taco truck is the Kogi Truck, which features Koren tacos, including a tofu taco that Kogi says even the meat eaters should try.

“The tofu is pan seared and topped with all the fixings. Hell, it’s so good you should try one even if you’re a strict carnivore.”

Oh, yeah. That’s what we’re talking about!

The tofu taco, like all tacos at Kogi Truck, come with the following toppings.

* sesame-chili salsa roja
* julienne romaine lettuce and cabbage tossed in Korean chili-soy vinaigrette
* cilantro-green onion-lime relish
* crushed sesame seeds
* sea salt
* garnished with lime wedge, orange wedge and red radish wedge

Beth Ditto‘s band Gossip just released a new album this month, Music For Men, and Beth describes her mates as coming from a punk scene of “striking vegan radicals.”

Does this mean Beth and the boys were trying to run away from the vegans?

Ditto announced several months ago that she became vegetarian.

Wonder if she stuck to her regime.

Los Premios MTV 2009 - Show

Heeb magazine has announced its annual list of 100 Jewish movers and shakers in the categories of art, music, fashion, film & tv, media, books, activism, comedy, food, and entrepreneurship.

We’re thrilled to report that two movers and shakers, Gabe Saporta and Amanda Cohen, also shake up the vegetarian community.

The front man for Cobra Starship, Saporta has been nominated for PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian Contest several years in a row and starred in a PSA against fur.

Says Heeb of Cohen , founder of Dirt Candy, a vegetarian restaurant in New York City:

“Amanda Cohen, once famous for her buffalo wing recipe, found her true calling in vegetarian cuisine as the chef and owner of Dirt Candy, a vegetable-themed restaurant in New York. But don’t think that all she dishes out are sprout salads and tofu; Cohen is known for delicious snacks like jalapeño hush puppies, kimchi donuts and popcorn pudding.”

Sophie Monk “The Hills Run Red” Nude Scene Helped By Veg Diet

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

Sophie Monk Needs A Refreshment After the Gym!

Sophie Monk has a new film out, The Hills Run Red, about the daughter of a horror film director.

At some point during the film, Sophie ends up naked and tied to a bed.

While some actresses would make a body double part of the contract, Sophie didn’t mind going natural for the cams at all.

After all, she still tries to stick to a vegetarian diet, according to celebrityhealthfitness.com.

“You’ve just got to make sure you’re in shape,” she said. “Most women would otherwise. I’ve been offered Playboy, but doing a film where it’s not me, I feel like it’s very different. That’s how I look at it.”

The Hills Run Red is available on DVD.

We’re clueless as to what minute in the film Sophie gets naked.

Sorry.
