Comments Off on Cookie Thief On Prowl In New York For Vegan Gingerbread Desserts
Vegan Cookie Monster Thief Suspect
Cookie Monster should stop looking for his wife near Oscar’s can and instead head over to NYC’s One Lucky Duck vegan eatery.
According to the New York Post, the manager there claims a woman has tried to rob him of his vegan, organic cookies twice during the past month. Arriving on a scooter, the woman first hit him with her foot-powered vehicle and then tried to spray him with Mace.
These gingerbread cookies she is after must be good, because the last time she attempted to steal them, she yelled, “F*ck you! I’ll be back every day! You can count on it,” before escaping.
What We Like: The use of non-motorized vehicle as the getaway instrument. An idling getaway car wastes gas and puts toxic emissions into the air.
What We Hate: Stealing is never cool, especially from establishments that are trying to do the right thing by providing, animal and earth-friendly goods. Reward these places by paying for your cookies before taking off on your scooter.
It’s your choice whether or not to use profanity to indicate you’ll be a returning customer.
After five years of eating vegan, Robin Quivers faced what many face after putting another bean burrito in the microwave and scarfing it down with tomato soup. Bored with her usual food routine, Quivers hired a chef, a handsome man named Gavan who is reported to be able to “cook anything,” including some new dishes to spark Quivers’ palate.
This new television show, Vegucating Robin, will feature Gavan teaching Quivers how to blend, boil, bake, blanch and blacken tofu, pasta, legumes, vegetables and all these meat, egg, and dairy-free.
For those of us itching for a vegan or vegetarian cooking show, we may have just gotten our wish. Quivers, the co-host to shock jock Howard Stern, has the both the look, personality and celebrity status to make veg mainstream–daytime or prime-time.
Comments Off on Meatless Monday Recipe–Art Smith Vegan Fried Chicken
Art Smith and Tal Ronnen
Today is the last Meatless Monday recipe before Thanksgiving and what better way to celebrate a holiday tradition than with a traditional meal of fried NOT-chicken!
Guaranteed to put KFC to shame, this vegan fried chicken doesn’t involve birds being scalded in hot water or their throats slit (a nice image to accompany while eating real chicken, though), but it does involve Gardein faux chicken fillets, Chick’n Scallopini, available from natural and veg-friendly stores like Whole Foods. This recipe if so perfectly put together, you could probably even substitute another vegetarian chicken if Gardein is no where to be found.
Comments Off on Meatless Mouthful–Kevin Nealon Stuffs Himself, Not Turkeys On Thanksgiving
“I like to stuff myself at Thanksgiving, not turkeys. Save a life this holiday season … adopt a turkey instead of eating one.”
—Kevin Nealon, from a compilation of vegetarian celebrity quotes about Thanksgiving on Farm Sanctuary’s website. Nealon’s favorite Thanksgiving meal is Tofurky and pumpkin pie. What’s yours?
