In a new video from the satirical news network, “The Onion,” a (fake) FDA official has the solution to saving America’s health.

Just eat some f*cking vegetables every once in awhile, okay? That’s all there is to it.

“You just buy a bag of f*cking carrots and you eat them the way you normally would eat a package of hot dogs. Okay? If you usually stand in front of an open fridge shoving them in your fat face cold. Well, then just do that with a carrot.”

“Portlandia” is a new IFC series that picks up on mocking the green, progressive lifestyle where the not as successful animated series The Goode Family left off.

Premiering Friday the 21st on the IFC, Portlandia takes place in Oregon where “the dream of the 90s is alive,” meaning no character is left without a bicycle to ride around town, a recycling bin in the backyard and goes a week without patronizing the locally owned coffee shop and bookstore.

Obviously food is a huge part of living green and the first episode features a couple dining at a restaurant that professes to serve humane chicken. An intense investigation takes place at the table, resulting in the waitress bringing the couple a file with the chicken’s photo and a lengthy sheet about its diet and the space it actually had to roam during its lifetime. There is a file for each chicken eaten, complete with name. This one’s named Collen.

Bethenny Frankel hooked up with Ellen DeGeneres on her show to demonstrate making vegan cupcakes with vegan cream cheese frosting.

“I always try to do the vegan thing first because it is healthier,” Frankel says. “And you feel good about yourself.”

Frankel feels a little better about herself for shunning refined sugars and flours as well. Instead of white flour and white sugar, Bethenny opts for raw sugar and oat flour.

“It’s not a racist thing,” Frankel jokes. “Go against white–when baking.”

Not to mention many white sugars aren’t technically vegan, as these are often processed with animal bone char. Other Frankel suggestions include making your cupcake portion sizes like A cup breasts versus D cups. You’ll have to watch the clip for that full explanation.

Why is it a good idea to stay away from white when eating? Dr. Michael Roizen of the Cleveland Clinic, explains.

Betty White is almost in the nonagenarian club!

The actress and animal welfare activist turned 89 recently and appeared on The View to discuss her latest projects, an indication she’s not slowing down anytime soon.

Barbara Walters reminded White that during one interview she told her she liked animals more than people.

“That’s true,” White said, eliciting laughter from the group. “I don’t make it a secret.”

“They never lie to you. You know when they tell you something, they mean it. They love you unconditionally,” White continued.

It’s no surprise this actress has been active with the Morris Animal Foundation, a research group that has aimed to improve the lives of dogs by conducting studies onĀ dog bite education and creating ways to determine a dog’s compatibility in the home.

Kris Carr Makes Juice Not War On “Good Morning America” (Video)

Written by Vegetarian Star on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011 in Authors, Food & Drink, Recipes, Videos.

Kris Carr, author of Crazy Sexy Diet and several other books, appeared on Good Morning America for its “New Year, New You” series to discuss her new book and offer advice on eating a plant-based diet for better health. Diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer eight years ago, Carr made the switch to a veg diet and, as the GMA host described, “is thriving.”

Carr shared her daily breakfast drink, which consists of several green vegetables, a pear and a hint of ginger.

“The rest of the time I like to look at my plate and least 50% is covered in plants, greens,” Carr said when asked what her remaining meals for the day looked like. Brown rice, millet and beans are examples of what makes up the remaining 50% of her meal.

The recipe for Carr’s morning beverage drink can be viewed here.
