Kate Bush has posed for a series of photos to promote her latest album, 50 Words For Snow.

Although the singer appears to be draped in animal fur for the advertisements, Bush assured fans she wore nothing but artificial.

In a statement to the press, Bush said, “We have recently taken some photos and I just want to pre-empt any concerns there might be, as I’m sure most of you will feel the same way as I do about wearing real fur. All the fur in these photos is synthetic.”

The longtime vegetarian has collaborated with several big artists on her latest album including Elton John, Andy Fairweather Low and Stephen Fry.

When asked about the thought of eating meat, Bush said, “I just could not stand the idea of eating meat – I really do think that it has made me calmer…. People’s general awareness is getting much better, even down to buying a pint of milk: the fact that the calves are actually killed so that the milk doesn’t go to them but to us cannot really be right, and if you have seen a cow in a state of extreme distress because it cannot understand why its calf isn’t by, it can make you think a lot.”

Kesha is once again raising her voice for the animals.

The vegetarian and spokesperson for the Humane Society International has written a letter to the CEO of McDonald’s Corp., Jim Skinner, asking that he bring the fast food giant’s slaughter practices up to date.

Although restaurants in the U.K. and Europe have already implemented a chicken slaughter practice that involves slowly putting the birds to sleep, the U.S. still lags behind.

“Please explain why you won’t listen to your company’s own advisory panel and follow the lead of McDonald’s in Europe by switching to the modern method that would spare chickens killed for McNuggets from having their legs and wings broken, having their throats slashed while they’re still conscious, and being scalded to death in de-feathering tanks,” Kesha wrote.

“If the cost is what troubles you – despite the fact that your profits are way up because everyone eats cheap during a recession – let’s talk. I may not have the $ (money) that the Golden Arches (McDonald’s) has to throw around, but I’d be glad to lend a hand in helping bring your suppliers’ slaughter practices into the 21st century.”

Kesha was motivated to write to Skinner after learning the restaurant is spending more than a billion dollars for renovations but not investing any in more humane slaughter equipment.

“It’s actually our whole Western lifestyle. It’s one of the reasons half of us have cancer. Because our Western lifestyle is so acidic–the food we eat causes the acid. The meats, the processed foods–our bodies are made for whole foods. The sun goes in the plant, the plant [in] us, we live. That’s how it works. And it’s really taxing us and that’s why we’re seeing this epidemic of cancer.”

It’s that time again when celebrities come out in public wearing their finest in meat attire.

Nicki Minaj sported a faux chicken necklace from Onch (the same company that manufactured a meat necklace after Lady Gaga made that trend famous) at the IHeart Radio Festival.

If you aren’t totally knocked off your feet from this piece of must have fashion, perhaps you should opt for Onch’s bacon necklace instead.

Or not.

“As an African American woman I am aware of certain black stereotypes such as ‘black people love chicken’…,” Minaj said, according to Gothamist. “While I’m positive eating the certain poultry couldn’t be that evil, is wearing a piece of chicken around your neck satire or ignorance?”

While wearing a plastic or rubber chicken around your neck may not indicate ignorance, Vegetarian Star isn’t too positive that consuming the real thing isn’t evil.

Most chickens consumed in the U.S. don’t live the life of a celebrity and are forced to live in crowded conditions, suffer painful health conditions from lack of exercise and don’t go into a Hall of Fame or receive a star on the Walk of Fame post mortem.

Be a real star and never get caught with anything other than a 100% animal-free piece of chicken.

Kesha is currently designing her own line of faux fur clothing.

According to W.E.N.N., the line will reflect her preference for the wild and ecclectic, similar to what you might find her wearing during one of her performances.

“Right now I’m in the process of designing a faux fur collection, which would be, obviously, animal friendly,” Kesha said.

“My first album was called Animal, and I’m also the global ambassador for the Humane Society International, so leopard print is a recurring theme in my look, which I like to wear because it brings out the animal inside.”

Kesha is a vegetarian who has been seen in fur attire before. But she has assured it’s always fake.

“I just love animals, and I’m an advocate for animals rights, and my family has rescued dogs from all over the world. I don’t believe in animal testing. If you see me in fur, it’s always fake.”

Kesha is now the Humane Society International’s first global ambassador.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, the purpose of the partnership is to, “promote respect, protection, and compassion for animals around the world.”

One way the vegetarian TiK ToK singer is accomplishing this is by using her fan base to raise money for animal charities.

“I am honored to be the first HSI Global Ambassador because my music is inspired by the freedom and primal beauty of animals and the natural world,” Kesha said. “I take this opportunity incredibly seriously because we are ALL animals. One of the main underlying sentiments of my music is to respect all living creatures just as they are. I believe that together, we can change laws that allow innocent animals to be unjustly mistreated and abused all over the world.”

Kesha is currently asking her fans to sign a petition that encourages the ban of animal-tested cosmetics in Europe by 2013. She’s also raising money for HSI through ticket sales at Tickets for Charity.

This isn’t Kesha’s first charitable contribution to animal welfare. In the past, she’s donated pet food to owners who were victims of floods in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.

Singer Paula Cole, most famous for her 90s pop hit “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone,” is featured in the September 2011 issue of Vegetarian Times.

Cole gave up eating meat at 14, but says she allowed her daughter Skye to make the decision when she was ready.

“She’s not interested in meat, but I allowed her that decision. I believe that living vegetarian is one of the best things you can do for your kids, and one of the greatest ways for your soul to shine.”

When a child finally does make the decision to go veg, what factors motivate him to do so?

A Harvard doctoral student named Karen Hussar explored those reasons in a study involving 45 children, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The researcher discovered that although many children gave up eating meat for moral reasons, they don’t necessarily judge their meat-eating family and friends as bad people.

“For those that come from families where they’re the only non-meat eater it may be hard for them to be judgmental of the people they live with because they’re their role models,” Hussar said.

Alanis Morrissette is gracing the cover of the September issue of Yoga Journal.

It’s the journal’s musician edition, and several other veg-friendly artists have interviews in the magazine, including Moby, Ziggy Marley and Adam Levine.

Alanis tells the Journal, “I wanted to find a practice that was both physical and spiritual. Yoga was perfect for that. I felt like I was born to do yoga.”

Alanis got motivated to follow a plant-based lifestyle after picking up a copy of the book Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman and says she enjoys filling her plate with greens like collards and kale.

Many yoga lovers see following a meatless diet as a natural extension of yoga and its principles.

Stephen Sturgess, a practicing yogi for over three decades, wrote in The Yoga Book, “A vegetarian diet is essential for one who wants to follow a spiritual life. If you sincerely wish to progress and grow from the ordinary and materialistic life to a higher spiritual consciousness, then it becomes important to live on a vegetarian diet. For there are certain foods that help the mind and body to become more refined, and others that keep it down to the consciousness level of an animal.”
