Free Birds Adopt a Turkey

This year’s spokespersons for Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Turkey campaign are two individuals who know how important it is to keep animals off the dinner table.

Reggie and Jake, voiced by Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson, can be seen in theatres this Thanksgiving season as two cartoon turkeys in Free Birds, a film about turkeys on a mission to save their family and friends from becoming dinner.

Celebrate National Cat Day

Today is National Cat Day.

It would be great if every cat lover could be excused from work, school and other responsibilities, but unfortunately, this is one holiday that has yet to be approved on the legislators’ list.

John Salley

John Salley will help celebrate the 25th anniversary of Alexander’s Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF) with a set of wines produced by a company he has ownership in.

The event tonight at one of Fort Lauderdale’s most renown vegan restaurants, Sublime, will feature a four course dinner complete with a choice of Salley vegan wines from The Vegan Vines.

Rise Against Brandon Barnes

“Treating other sensitive, intelligent beings like disposable laboratory equipment is wrong, and—although I was a business and music major at CU-Boulder—I know that there must be better ways to teach undergraduates than by having them needlessly torment, maim, and kill hundreds of animals.”

Brandon Barnes, drummer for Rise Against, in a letter to officials at the University of Colorado at Boulder on their current policies on animal testing and experimentation. In the letter, Barnes invites the university to explore more humane methods of research, and mentions that his alma mater’s Denver location already has a policy in place to not test on live animals.

Matt Damon Commits PETA Sin Of Watching Bullfight

Matt Damon has done what almost every animal rights activist or vegetarian has done or at least thought of doing at some point.

He’s given in to the other side.

The actor recently wrote an apology letter to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for attending a bullfight.

But if any good came out of it, it helped him realize just how horrible and barbaric the sport is.

Paul Schaffer, David Letterman‘s sidekick since the 80s on The Late Show with David Letterman, is starring in a new video produced by the Ad Council, the Humane Society of the United States and Maddie’s Fund in partnership with the Halo Pet Foundation.

October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. Schaffer promotes pet adoption by playing a few notes on the piano alongside a four-legged band member. He is later flanked by several dogs who also want to join the campaign.

“Everyone should have a shelter dog,” Schaeffer says.

“It’s good for the soul.”
