Channing Tatum “Magic Mike” Body Without Tomatoes, Eggplants

Channing Tatum is giving his model wife Jenna Dewan a run for her money by showing he too can look sexy with the help of grains and veggies.

The actor is starring in a new film on male strippers, Magic Mike, and told OUT magazine he borrowed a few of Jenna’s vegetarian recipes to help get him in shape.

Or at least the ones without tomatoes.

“I will never eat a raw tomato. I can do the shit out of some tomato sauce, or even sun-dried tomatoes, but never raw,” Tatum said, saying he had issues with the textures of certain foods.

Looks like it’s also ditto to eggplant.

“Fuck eggplant—it’s too spongy. I hate spongy stuff.”

Not always a vegan, Tatum enjoys his wife’s cooking at home and did abstain from animals products for two months after meeting her.

“I gained weight, because I don’t like vegetables, so I basically had to wrap them in bread.”

Joel McHale Gets Eco Lecture From Kristen Bell

Joel McHale didn’t take a course called Environmental Activism 101 at Community‘s college in Greendale, Colorado, but actress Kristen Bell was sure to give him a mini-lecture on the subject when the two bumped into each other at the grocery store.

Lesson 1: Plastic is bad. Chicken’s even worse.

McHale was interviewed by Bell’s husband, Dax Shepard, when he mentioned the incident.

McHale: I saw your wife at Gelson’s [supermarket], and she lectured me about getting plastic bags.
Shepard: She did. That’s very her.
McHale: Totally lectured me.
Shepard: She was probably carrying around our big, green Costco bags.
McHale: Yeah, and I think I had a whole roasted chicken, and I was like, would you like some? And she said no, I’m a vegetarian, and I’m like, there’s a surprise!

“Substitutes for animal products” is on the syllabus for next week!

Michael Clarke Duncan PETA Ad For Vegetarian Diets (Video)

Michael Clarke Duncan, best known for his role as John in The Green Mile and currently Leo Knox on the Fox television series The Finder, has recorded a PSA for vegetarianism for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Duncan was plagued with several health problems before going vegetarian and recalls it was a birthday approximately three years ago that prompted him to change. That change included switching to plant-based proteins like beans and tofu and giving away all his Omaha steaks, fish and chicken entrees to the neighbors.

We hope he tries to give them samples of seitan every now and then too.

Besides health, being an animal lover (he owns six cats, two dogs and several fish), watching the film Meet Your Meat and reading Skinny Bitch and Skinny Bastard all helped seal the deal.

“I never knew what the process was from that animal to my plate,” Duncan says in the PSA.

“Once I looked at an animal like that I cleared out my refrigerator of about $5,000 worth of meat.”

“The best thing about being a vegetarian for me is number one I know I’m not harming any animals.”

At 54 years of age, Duncan’s physique is proof of the statement printed on the ad: “Going vegetarian can prevent–and sometimes reverse–our nation’s biggest killers such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease, cancer and stroke. Muscle your way to better health. Go vegetarian.”

“American Pickers” Mike Wolfe Says “Adopt Don’t Shop”

Mike Wolfe stars alongside Frank Fritz as they travel across the United States buying antiques and collectibles on the History Channel series American Pickers.

In real life, Wolfe knows pets aren’t collectibles and something cute to sit on the sofa from a pet store or breeder isn’t nearly as valuable as a shelter animal.

Wolfe is starring in a PSA for Last Chance for Animals’ Adopt, Don’t Shop! campaign.

“I’m a picker and I’m always searching for rusty gold for somebody’s home,” Wolfe says in the PSA where he’s seen sitting next to Bentley, a rescued St. Bernard.

“Every year, 4 million animals are euthanized because they can’t find a home. And a staggering number are older animals. Let’s give them a chance to become an American Classic. Help save man’s best friend. Adopt, don’t shop.”

The print PSA was created with the help of famed celebrity photographer Christopher Ameruoso.

“I encourage everyone to share this PSA far and wide. The more people who see the wonderful work Christopher Ameruoso and Mike Wolfe have created together, the fewer animals will die in shelters,” says Chris DeRose, LCA Founder and President.

Wolfe joins several celebrities such as Maria Menounos, Missi Pyle, Pamela Anderson, Holly Madison, Mike Tyson, Mackenzie Phillips, and Jillian Michaels in the latest of 27 print ads available on the Los Angeles based organization’s website.

Cory Monteith Headed For Vegan Life Thanks To Lea Michele

Finn may be packing more hummus sandwiches to lunch at McKinley High thanks to his girlfriend’s guidance.

Rumor has it that Cory Monteith is considering going vegan because his on-screen and real life girlfriend Lea Michele is one.

“Lea wants Cory to become a vegetarian and then eventually a vegan, like her,” an insider close to the couple tells HollywoodLife.com. “Cory is pretty good about the way he eats. He rarely eats meat in front of Lea.”

Is there a deadline for the switch? Maybe it’s when Cory junior enters the world.

“When Lea has kids, she wants them to be vegan — and she wants Cory on board,” a source said.

Going vegan should pose no problem for the Glee actor. He already admits to “indulging” in meatless food, especially at one of Vancouver’s most famous vegan establishment’s, The Naam.

“I like to eat healthy sometimes,” Monteith said. “But I like to eat incredibly badly sometimes too. I try to balance it out. If you go to The Naam, you can at least feel as though the large stomach full of food you’re sleeping on is at least vegetables.”

Kevin Nealon will be a guest on Tampa, Florida’s WMNF 88.5 FM radio talk show “Talking Animals,” a regular segment of the station’s programming that interviews celebrities and other notable figures known for their animal welfare activism.

Nealon has been a vegetarian for almost three decades and is supportive of several vegetarian and animal rights groups, including PETA, Farm Sanctuary and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Hosted by Duncan Strauss, “Talking Animals” started as a weekly, hour-long radio show about animals and animal issues that was carried on KUCI (88.9FM)– the college/community public radio station that broadcasts from the University of California at Irvine–until the end of October 2005, when Strauss and his family moved to Florida.

The show began airing monthly, then semimonthly, on WMNF (88.5FM)–a 70,000-watt, community-oriented NPR station in Tampa, Florida–and as of January 2011, “Talking Animals” airs on WMNF every Wednesday, 11 a.m. to noon ET.

“Talking Animals” has hosted several well known stars, including Moby, Joan Jett, Margaret Cho and Tony La Russa.

Fans can tune in on May 2 at 11 AM ET to to hear a live chat with the longtime vegetarian and Weeds star. They also have the opportunity to participate in the chat by either calling (813-239-9663) or e-mailing (DJ@wmnf.org).

Avengers stars Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner are doing lots of interviews these days and there couldn’t be more dynamics between The Black Widow and Hawkeye, even when they’re outside of costume.

Johansson and Renner got on the topic of vegan goodies during a recent chat where Johansson tries hard to explain to Renner all vegan food doesn’t taste like birdseed and toenails.

SJ: I’m crazy about you.
JR: Only because of the agave cakes. The healthy, what was it? Vegan…
SJ: Those oatmeal cookies were vegan.
JR: You put all that gooey stuff on it. What was that icing on it?
SJ: It was so good.
JR: There’s nothing goo – Vegan to me just sounds like health food. There’s nothing healthy about fun.
SJ: That’s not what vegan means.
JR: I know that’s not what it means, it’s just how I take it? Doesn’t anyone else think that? Like ‘oh, I’m vegan. I’m sorry’
SJ: I’m sorry I what? That I eat a bunch of salad?
JR: I eat bird seed and kale. That was her diet, she had a dehydration machine, and she just stuck whatever in it to dehydrate it, and everything came out tasting like toenails.
SJ: You just don’t like flax crackers.
JR: I don’t like flax crackers, no. That is literally terrible. Like eating asphalt.

Johansson credits the lovely little figure in her Black Widow suit to adhering to a diet of bird seed and asphalt.

Or at least some kind of vegan food.
