Cory Booker Represents Vegetarians And America In U.S. Senate

America’s government just got a lot greener.

Cory Booker, mayor of Newark, New Jersey is now officially a U.S. Senator.

With so much emphasis on improving healthcare for all and offering more nutritious foods for children in schools, there’s no better time than now to put a health conscious plant-eater like Booker in charge of making and approving legislation.

Booker has been a vegetarian for about two decades and has been featured several times in the media for his diet.

In 2012, he became one of several politicians to join the fight against hunger and poverty by making themselves more aware of what it’s like to live with little means.

He bought and ate groceries on what the average food stamp recipient in his state would receive.

On a slightly more controversial, but humorous note, he’s got a veggie burger in a strip club named after him.

After visiting Casa Diablo in Portland, Booker made such an impression with the crew, they gave a burger with extra vegan mayonnaise on it his name.

Susan Levin, Director of Nutrition with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, thinks Booker could make a great impression on his constituents by setting an example with and promoting his diet.

“By 2030, every U.S. taxpayer could be paying $244 each year for heart failure expenses. But by promoting plant-based policies, he can help Americans avoid this looming $70 billion toll – and the billions that will be spent on other diseases resulting from America’s meaty, cheesy diet.”
