Several celebrities came out for Farm Sanctuary’s Celebrity Poker Tournament to help raise money for one of the largest farm animal sanctuary’s in the country.

Actress Jennifer Coolidge was one of several stars present and during a behind the scenes interview with VegNews TV, she stated how raising awareness for farm animals is just as important as cat, dog and other pet adoption events.

Nigella Lawson was a recent guest on NPR’s Morning Edition.

The program has launched “Cook Your Cupboard,” a segment that explores what to do with the random items in your refrigerator you bought eons ago and need to find a use for.

Lawson took one listener’s collection of items and suggested several vegetarian dishes of chili, almond milk pancakes and cauliflower soup with almond milk.

Vegan Papa Ganache Wins “Cupcake Wars” Competition

Cupcake Wars

A vegan bakery based in Matawan, New Jersey won the Food Network’s recent Cupcake Wars competition.

Papa Ganache received the top prize of 10,000 dollars and the opportunity to feed the sweet craving crowd at the People’s Choice Awards.

Judges were thrilled with the baker’s crème brulée, chocolate ganache and salted caramel, l Brussel-carrot curry topped with cream cheese frosting and maple-curry reduction, and gluten-free lemon with blackberry and lemon-thyme filling cupcakes.

Michael Pollan was a guest with Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report discussing his latest book that explores the art of cooking in the home kitchen, Cooked.

Pollan, also the author of The Omnivore’s Dilemma, is not a proponent of a completely vegetarian diet, but he has a lot to say about avoiding processed food and shunning corporations that do not put a lot of thought into the ingredients that go into their products.
