Oprah Signs Off With Best Friend Sadie (Video)

Oprah Winfrey signed off last Wednesday with one of her best friends.

Oprah has featured her dog Sadie in a photo for the cover of her magazine. Sadie and several other dogs posed with Oprah at PAWS Chicago, a large, no-kill shelter. (more…)

Demi Moore Wants Bullhooks Banned From Circus Elephants (Video)

Demi Moore is standing up for circus elephants in Georgia. The handlers of the circus are currently allowed to use bullhooks on the animals, but the Fulton County Board of Commissioners is taking a vote on Wednesday that would forbid trainers from doing what is already banned in county zoos and sanctuaries.

Knut The Polar Bear Marks Last Profitable Days Of Zoos?

Knut the polar bear made the Berlin zoo in Germany one profitable enterprise. The heart-warming story of a cub rejected by his mother and tormented by his sisters turned into one of 3.5 million visitors and over 30 million dollars between the years of 2007-2009 when Knut was growing up.

According to an article at MSN, those years were the only years the Berlin zoo actually made money.
