Quantcast Vegetarian StarRussell Brand Says Environment More Important Than Being Typecast

Russell Brand used to be known as a drug using, sex-crazed star going in and out of rehab more often than some stars switch from vegetarian to vegan and back again.

Much has changed now, but that doesn’t stop producers from casting him in roles similar to his former self, such as in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek.  Brand is currently portraying yet another playboy in a remake of Arthur, the story of a drunk with no ambition in life who has a chance to inherit a large sum of money by marrying one particular woman.

But Brand isn’t worried about being typecast. After all, there are more important issues to lose sleep over.

“It was certainly something I considered,” Brand said. “But when you consider problems such as the ecological destruction of our planet or racism and war – being typecast doesn’t seem like such a big issue. Typecast! Of course it’s typecasting. But I’ve got a while. I’m not planning to die too soon, so I’ve got other options.”

Brand said that although he’s cleaned his life up dramatically, he still feels people are asking for more. For example, he was criticized for having a large, gas-guzzling Range Rover that’s not so great for the environment.

“Oh f**king hell. Now I’ve got to learn more stuff. I stopped drinking bottled water. What can I do? I’m a vegetarian. What does everyone want?!”

The next step is to go vegan, Russell. That’s what all your eco-friendly fans want.
