Taylor Swift

Cover Girl is cleaning up its act.

It claims to no longer test its products on animals and now, it has unveiled a sister line of products touted as natural and green to be promoted in ads by Taylor Swift, reports Stylelist.

Cover Girl Natureluxe introduced its Silk Foundation and Gloss Balm first, both of which contain plant-based ingredients like jojoba oil, rosehip extracts, cucumber water, mango and shea butter. Natureluxe contains no parabens. It’s also using bioresin–a renewable, sustainable, sugarcane-derived plastic–for its packaging.

But we know a few ingredients that come from the ground or trees doesn’t make it completely eco-friendly. So how does Natureluxe stack up in terms of other items added to the formulas?

Pamela Anderson Has Samosas On The Mind When In India

Written by Vegetarian Star on Monday, November 29th, 2010 in Actresses, Food & Drink, Recipes.

Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson has already given some love to the Indian dish tikka paneer, and recently she told DNA India there’s another dish the country reminds her of.

“When I think of India, I think of samosas…fabulous country, fabulous food. I love to eat and am so glad India has so many amazing vegetarian options; I had a fun time trying different things.”

When we think of samosas, we think of a delicately crisp crust pocket filled with spiced vegetables like potatoes, peas and onions, dipped in a tangy chutney like tamarind, cilantro or mango.

“Tofu. I thought that was like touche. I didn’t know it was food.”

Snooki, on every veg’s favorite soybean curd. The topic of tofu came up on an episode of Jersey Shore when she, Sammi “Sweetheart” and JWoWW have a bite to eat at restaurant. Thankfully, JWOWW comes to the rescue and explains tofu is, “all-protein, it has no taste and it takes the taste of whatever.” JWOWW gets extra points as our sweetheart because she adds that it’s “good for you,” and doesn’t have any derogatory statements about tofu or vegetarians. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco tackled the serious subject of fur in this latest ad for PETA, one of the animal right’s organization’s “Ink Not Mink,” PSAs.

Like many people in the dark about the use of animals for clothing or food, Ochocinco painfully learned fur coats really are made from something that once breathed life. “To tell you the truth, when I was younger, I thought it was really all fake,” Ochocinco says in an interview, which can be viewed below.

Right along with fur, the leather industry makes a huge chunk of the portion of animals used for fashion.

How refreshing it is to know that Wilson, one of the makers of footballs, make synthetic leather footballs for the compassionate NFL fan.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio has donated $1 million dollars to the World Wildlife Fund, a conservation organization that has been working to protect species and their habitats for almost five decades.

The money donated by DiCaprio is to help save tigers, a species the WWF estimates only 3,200 exist in the wild, compared to 100,000 a hundred years ago.

DiCaprio also attended the five day conference in St. Petersburg, Russia, the International Forum on Tiger Conservation, designed to create a plan to stop activities that are responsible for the animals’ decline, such as poaching and destruction of habitat.

“Illegal poaching of tigers for their parts and massive habitat loss due to palm oil, timber and paper production are driving this species to extinction,” said DiCaprio.

Katie Cassidy Vegan Lapse In “The Monte Carlo” Left Her Constipated

Written by Vegetarian Star on Friday, November 26th, 2010 in Actresses, Food & Drink.

Katie Cassidy

Katie Cassidy found out the hard way that the words “Let Them Eat Cake” should have been proceeded by “Give them some laxatives.”

“The Monte Carlo” star was filming in Hungary for the movie and had nothing but bad luck when it came to food. First, she discovered there isn’t much to eat there that doesn’t have animal products in it. Then, when it was time to shoot a scene involving eating, the director suggested she eat baked goods. The only problem was, like many movie scenes, it took several shots to get it right. And each time, Cassidy ate more cake. Constipating cake.

“I’m telling you, when you go from being vegan to eating cake like that, your bowels are frozen for probably three weeks!” Cassidy told George Lopez.
