Queen Brian May

Queen guitarist Brian May comforted a cat during its last moments on Earth.

According to The Lancaster Guardian, May was driving when he approached the cat lying in the road. He spent about a half an hour with it, stroking it until it died.

According to one source, about 5.4 million cats are hit by cars a year, which is more than the number euthanized in shelters. Pet owners can completely prevent this tragedy by simply keeping their cats–and dogs–inside. Invest in an invisible fence if your cat is the kind to enjoy fresh air.

Below is a video in which a veterinarian demonstrates ways to protect a cat that has been hit by a vehicle until it can get proper veterinary care. This is important for stabilization reasons–any movement involving the spine could result in fatal damage. The Dr. also discusses common injuries that take place during cat-vehicle collisions. Many cats turn to face the car just before they are hit, resulting in brain trauma and altered mental status.

Brian May is very involved for animals, I’m not surprised, but still happy to see that there are some people who really care for animals and value their lives.

Oh and this makes me proud of being a Queen fan!!!!! 😀

The brilliant and immensely talented Brian May personifies compassion in action. He proactivly and astutely advocates on behalf of the rights of badgers, foxes, hedgehogs, stags, hares and all creatures ranging from whales to rats and slugs, He is a very benevolent cat lover too. Brian May is probably the most intelligent animal proponent since the very late and great Dr. Albert Schweitzer who won the Nobel Peace Prize.

If you think Brian was cruel for not taking the cat to a veterinarian, you are absolutely wrong! The article clearly says any movement of the spine could be fatal, so he did the right thing in not dangerously trying to transport the cat in his car which would almost certainly caused a painful death. Instead, he eased the animal’s last moments in petting the cat peacefully before it passed away. What a honorable man, as many people would have not even stopped! He probably called a vet to come to the place where the cat was but it was too late. Still, he waited 30 minutes until the poor animal died. This is why Brian is one of my heroes.
